Acronis Failing on Backups to Western Digital My Book 8TB

I use this combination for portability, Sabrent case came with USB-C to USB-C and I added a USB-C to USB-A cable:

It is kind of confusing now. When Acronis True Image Perpetual when to subscriptions in 2022 they renamed it to Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office Subscription. Now they changed their minds and are now calling it Acronis True Image Subscription.



It is apparent that a lot of the former buyers of Acronis True Image Perpetual (2021 and earlier) failed to buy a Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office Subscription. As a way to get many of them back they reached out to these perpetual owners and offered them a special Acronis True Image 2025 Perpetual version. Note this is upgrade only is not available for sale on their website. Owners of legacy installed versions of Acronis True Image Perpetual (2021 and earlier) received popups about every day or so with the offer. Here is what the popup looked like:



I bought 5 of these upgrades. If I log into my Acronis account I see that I have 5 licenses for Acronis True Image 2025 (Perpetual)

The only free version of Acronis True Image I know of is from Western Digital. However it is a limited version and requires a Western Digital drive to be in the computer.

Acronis True Image for Western Digital requires the following hardware.

• l At least one storage device by Western Digital hardware brands, including WD, SanDisk, and G-Tech, or a network attached storage by Western Digital.

Acronis True Image for Western Digital can backup and restore files, folders, full disk images. It can be used to clone drives.
IMPORTANT:

• Cloning to external USB drives cannot be done.
• A Western Digital drive must be used to install.

I was suggesting that in case Acronis wasn´t working and you wanted to backup / recover / check data / disk(s).

As a computer tech, my customers were always giving me their junk. One piece of junk I always enjoyed receiving was a failed WD USB backup drive.
The USB to SATA interface in those devices was pure CRAP? Failure if not expected was almost always a sure bet.

The last one I got was an 8TB full size Hard Drive in a case that nearly required either C4 or the Jaws of Life to open.
I totally destroyed the case, just getting the drive out. I mounted the drive in my Desktop Case, and use it today to store my Ghost backups and ISO files. I would never buy any WD drive, (I have some really bad history with those things) but that 8TB drive has worked just fine, so far, anyway.
And, it accepts my Ghost backups without a whimper.

Yeah well think gonna check out Seagate maybe when i need another External or Samsung External SSD type devices.

I'm surprised i didn't buy Western Digital M.2s as well seeing that i got so many Western Digital Mechanical and External Drive
