I was wondering, is it possible to make Windows play an audio file when OOBE starts and keep it playing until the setup finishes and the music fades out as your desktop pops up? I mean it IS possible, they somehow shoveled up the right click menu after all, but has someone tried or will try it?

Considering that there is no sound devices available during the install process, I feel pretty safe in answering no for that part. As far as OOBE, Cortana works so it's probably possible during that step but I wouldn't expect anyone to jump in and volunteer to help you figure it out as it's not really worth the time and effort involved to do it unless there's a specific need for it other than just boredom.

Yes. If Windows has generic support for your audio device.

1. Extract your Windows ISO to a temporary folder (7-Zip), then extract OOBE_music.zip in the same folder.
2. Copy your audio file to "sources\$OEM$\$1\WMP" folder, and update wmplayer.bat with the filename.
3. Create a new ISO using whatever ISO tool you prefer.

This setup uses legacy Windows Media Player, because it's part of all Windows editions (except for N).

autounattend.xml creates a startup task, which runs after the 2nd & 3rd install reboots. When the desktop finally appears, another task kills WMP and removes the startup task.

Notes:
- Don't use "on logon" as your task trigger, because the user is already logged on during the First Logon animation. Change the /sc trigger to ONLOGON to hear the difference.
- wmplayer.bat sets a few registry keys to skip the first-run dialog, and loop the audio.
- Some CMD magic to hide the PowerShell window from appearing.
- Works with any install.wim image, since it's only using sources\$OEM$ folder and autounattend.xml
- autounattend requires a dummy "windowsPE" XML block, otherwise it doesn't execute any actions. If you have a custom answer file, copy the "specialize" and "oobeSystem" blocks to your XML.

Enjoy.

Remind me never to use one of your custom isos - I hate unnecessary background music (in videos, youtube, shops, restaurants etc.).

As a hearing aid user, I can assure you unnecessary noise is a serious impediment to hearing normal conversations. If you ever decide to distribute your isos, you should have option to turn on music (not option to turn off).

We have become so noise inundated, we have forgotten sometimes the best sound is silence. One of the few advantages of being a hearing aid user is you can turn them off LOL.

I think Windows has a volume setting in the OOBE, at least W10 with Cortana, IDK about 11

The steps are straightforward.
- Download your Windows ISO
- 7-Zip extract the ISO to a folder. 7-Zip extract the ZIP into the same folder as the extracted ISO.
- Copy your MP3 into the named subfolder in Step 2.
- Edit the wmplayer.bat to match your MP3's real filename
- Use any ISO creator like AnyISO or ImgBurn to make a new ISO.
- Use any USB tool like Rufus or Ventoy to write this ISO to a drive.
