This tutorial will show you how to add or remove the "Change BitLocker password" context menu on fixed and removable data drives encrypted by BitLocker for all users Windows 10 and Windows 11.

BitLocker Drive Encryption is a data protection feature that integrates with the operating system and addresses the threats of data theft or exposure from lost, stolen, or inappropriately decommissioned drives and computers. You can turn on BitLocker protection for operating system drives, fixed data drives, and removable data drives.

When you turn on BitLocker for fixed data drives or removable data drives, you can choose to use a password to unlock the drive.

When the BitLocker protected drive is unlocked, users can change the BitLocker password for the drive on demand.

If you prefer a cleaner less cluttered context menu, you are able to remove the "Change BitLocker password" context menu on fixed and removable data drives, and still be able to change the BitLocker password in the Control Panel.

You must be signed in as an administrator to add or remove the "Change BitLocker password" context menu.

EXAMPLE: "Change BitLocker password" context menu

When you right click on an unlocked fixed or removable drive, you will need to click/tap on Show more options first in Windows 11, then click/tap on Change BitLocker password.
