Advice for a new 4K Monitor

Hi,
I've been following the forum for several years, but this is my first post.
I'm looking for advice on purchasing a new 4K monitor (60 Hz). I'm undecided between a 27" or a 32".
My main use cases are programming, web browsing, and watching movies.
Are the characters sharp on a 27" 4K display?
I'm considering the BenQ PD2725U (or the BenQ PD3225U).

Characters are sharp on a 3840 X 2160 27" display. That's what I'm typing this onto. I have text scaling set at 150%.

You may have to sit closer to a 27" display than a 32" to read it comfortably, depending on your vision.

Opinion varies. I've read stuff from people using 43" 3840 X 2160 monitors, with text scaling at 100%. Which implies that their viewing distance is the same as with a 27": maybe 24" (60cm). (I'm not sure I'd like that.) Those monitors may not usually be for the pro market like the BenQs.

For Office or Gaming?

Office, 32" ViewFinity. good enough. best price is $250.
gaming, 32" Odyssey. best price $400.

40" is also a good choice. but some desk cannot hold it well. (small desk too close to watch. and maybe too heavy to stand.)

LG Ultragear is good. OLED 27". no fringing on text (if you do, you can make a reg edit to clear it up). no vrr flicker either.

I have a 32 inch curved Samsung. Beautiful monitor, but I have to set the text to 150% in order to read it well. Too much eyestrain otherwise.

Yeah, i usually won't go over 2k with anything smaller than 27" monitor. My eye site is getting worse with age, and I typically run 1440p at 125%

If you are running on a 27" monitor at 100% native resolution, it's 2560x1440. At 4k, it's 3840 x 2160 and at 100% native resolution, that text should be small. I prefer to not scale if I can avoid it as it's far crisper and sharper, but unfortunately too small to be used.

If you aren't seeing any difference your scaling must be changing between the 2k and the 4k display.

I can't advise on specific 4K monitors but I can advise that Benq makes an excellent monitor. Mine is over 3 years old and still as sharp and clean as the day I got it. It's a 27" and I wish I had gotten a 32". At the time I was short on space but now my desk can handle a bigger monitor.

Yeah scaling is changing of course as thats the point of it. It sorts out the issue you're having. Thats just not wanting to use something just because you don't want to. which is fine of course!

I've got a PixL 4K 27" monitor and it is excellent out the box with just needing the saturation tuning down 4%. I does HDR and is as cheap as chips (UK expression). Inside it is a Viewsonic 27" and it gets recognised by Windows as a Viewsonic but is a lot cheaper. It was recommended by the local PC shop I use. Very pleased with it.
