Advice on moving to windows 11

Hi Experts,
Currently I have windows 10:
System Information:

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8565U CPU @ 1.80GHz 2.00 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.85 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display

Right or wrong I was apprehensive about moving to win 11 for various news of breaking etc. Please may I ask is this a good time to move to windows 11 ?
I do not want sql, WSL etc to be impacted.

You can always try Windows 11 and if you don't like it you can downgrade to Windows 10 the rollback time limit in Windows 11 has been shortened from 30 days to 10 days. If you want you can also change the rollback time limit to 60 days by executing following command from Windows 11:
DISM /Online /Set-OSUninstallWindow /Value:60

You can also create system image to revert back to Windows 10.

As FreeBooter says, by default you have 10 days in which you can go back to your previous version, but that can be extended to 60 days. It used to be 30 days for the early versions of Windows 10, but was cut to 10 days a long time ago. If you want to extend it you must do so before the 10 days are up.


I second the suggestion to make a system image before you start.

Windows 11 has been out for more that a year now and has had one major Feature Update since release (21H2 to 22H2). It should be quite mature by now. I do not use sql or WSL, but I do have a lot of older software such as Office 2010. I also use Hyper-V to run VMs. I had no problems when I upgraded to 11 on release.

As other have said, suck it and see. After using Windows 11 since it first came out, I've just reverted to 10. 11 had so many annoyances, thing that worked well in 10 like the File Explorer ribbon, context menu and more, that the a step back to 10 was an easy choice. The only feature of 11 that I miss is the richer Snap Assist. StartAllBack does a pretty good job of restoring much of the Windows 10 features if you want to stick with 11.

Yeah my win 11 has been solid since the first build released, Had a couple of small issues but overall 9/10 for 19months now. Daily use for minimum 10 hours per day.

There is no good or bad time. Sooner or later you'll have to do it. You have to find out yourself. Issues vary from machine to machine. Not everyone have the same single problem.The best thing you can do is to create an image backup of your W10 and get W11. If you think you can't handle it, restore W10 back like nothing happened.
