It reported 4 critical events. Here are three of them. There was also something about Microsoft Phone, which I don't use. And bluetooth is working fine with my mouse, despite the report below.

Here is another oddity. Whenever I click on View Thread in an email here, if no browser is open, I get this message:

I don't know anything about this program. However, I just checked Revo and discovered it in my Download folder, with a date of 8/11. But if I open TaskMan, I don't see it in Processes, Startups, or Services.

Should I just have Revo remove it?
Thank you for your kind reply.

By all means see if it's uninstallable. If it is installed, you should see it in your start menu as a shortcut MSER Settings in a folder MSEdgeRedirect (well, I can in Open Shell, Windows own s.m. is another matter).. an if you used the exe installer, here:
C:\Program Files\MSEdgeRedirect

It's very useful if you never want Edge prompting you to install its autostart or appearing even when you choose on of the items hard coded to launch Edge that don't respect your browser default choice.

With the later version installed I found it impossible to launch Edge (maybe there's an option I can't see...!) but uninstalling it allowed me to do so. I've since reinstalled it.

The iMyFone is a third party application, nothing to do with Microsoft.
In Task Manager>Details tab, look for MFResident.exe and if it exists,RIGHT click it and select ---End Task ---
If you are unfamiliar with iMyFone,as I am,then search for a method of removing it.I have a sneaking suspicion it is a problem,in a virus sense.
Give Windows Defender a FULL scan run.

I used Revo to uninstall MSEdgeRedirect. Bingo! Edge will start now when I click on it. And regular Firefox still starts as my default browser. Ok - I haven't rebooted yet, so final results are not in!

In any case, thank you!

Nothing out of place in Image Hijacks, those entries are there to stop Internet Explorer from loading, in favour of something else.
MSEdgeRedirect definitely sounds like a promising candidate for the behaviour you've described.

I've looked briefly at comments to the author on Github, and one thread describes exactly what you and I see- that with the last version or so, it's impossible to launch Edge with it installed. I've posted a new suggestion that there be an option in Settings to allow manual launch of Edge, and that failure to launch is confusing to users not expecting this.
