Am I a Golden or a Raptor?

Hey
The box my Core i5-13400 came in says it has a Spec Code of SRMBF. According to Intel that spec code means my CPU has Stepping of B0, or Raptor Cove. B0 is Raptor Cove, C0 is Golden Cove, right.

That was exciting

Then I looked at CPU-Z Cache

Level 2 cache at “6 x 1.25 MB + 2 Mbytes” looks more like Golden Cove.
6 x 1.25 being the P-cores. +2MBytes the Gracemont cores (which would be 4MB on Raptor Cove).

I guess this means I have a Golden Cove, not a Raptor Cove.

Look at Stepping and Revision in CPU-Z

It seems you have a Raptor Lake (with Raptor Cove cores)

C0 is Golden Cove cores from the Alder Lake generation

Intel Core i5-13400 Confirmed to Have Two Different Versions

Intel Ark database confirms the Core i5-13400/13400F will vary on a chip-by-chip basis, with either B0 or C0 stepping used.

Well, it seems contradictory to me.
If Stepping B0 equates to Raptor Cove why doesn't CPU-Z Level 2 Cache read "6 x 2MB + 4MBytes"?

I couldn't tell you that. Once these are out for a while... you'll see comparisons all over the place.
Right now, most charts and comparisons are for the Core i5-13400F, especially the ones comparing B0 to C0.

In other words it's gonna take a month or so till we get the full story.

Overclockers are definitely more concerned with revisions than the general consumer.

From the little I could find... it seems the B0 revision is the rarer of the two.
It seems the the C0 revision is just to "use up" the leftover Alder Lake dies.

Yeah, my logic is flawed.
If it were 6 x 2 +4 that would be 16MB of level 2 cache, that's more than a 13500.
The 13500 has 6 P-cores also at 1.25MB, equal to 7.5MB. Then 8 E-cores, or two clusters (4 E-cores per cluster) at 2MB per cluster, for a total of 11.5MB.
My 13400 6 P-cores (7.5MB) plus one 2MB cluster (4 E-cores) equals 9.5MB total.

The Raptor Cove diagram I posted above must only apply to Core-i5 13600K & above.
6 P-cores at 2MB = 12MB. 8 E-cores (two clusters) at 4MB each equals 8MB, for a total of 20MB.

I could have figured this out without posting. Thanks for talking to me.

My 13400 is probably a 12700, after Intel deactivated two of the P-cores. Which is what my early research led me to believe I should expect to receive. I guess that is why I was surprised when my processor appeared as Stepping/Revision B0.
I considered the 13600K just to make sure I got a real Raptor Cove, but I don't need that much HP. & I would have felt obligated to get a Z790 motherboard, better GPU, faster memory, etc.

been a while but I think if you disable memory integrity the cache numbers in cpu-z will be easier to understand.

I misstated, keep confusing myself. My 13400 is a Raptor Lake, as the stepping B0 would indicate. But it has a similar design to the Golden Cove core in Alder Lake, although not exact. This article explained it well. Not every Core i5-13400F is the same: Raptor (B0) vs. Alder (C0) lake
Sounds like the manufacturing process for the C0 & B0 variants of the i5-13400F are quite different. B0 draws more power, less efficient, but better gaming performance.
