Amazon UK fake products

True, but a 1TB drive is generally advertised as such, 982 seems to random.
Yes, the advertising is one thing but the formatting always takes away some of that space. A good read on the size of a TeraByte:

Absolutely, and the fake/scammer sellers (as well as Amazon) just love the gullibility of people.
I don't think any company that wants to stay in business long term wants to get a reputation of offering dubious products -- ebay used to be known as Scambay but -- although I don't like it - it has toughned up the whole process so it is more reliable.

There's always chancers in any business - but I'm sure Amazon actually DO care about their services. Remember they make a HUGE amount of money too on their cloud services -- if people don't trust them then that's zillions of dollars down the pan. I really don't have any problem with Amazon - just check carefully and do due diligence research before clicking the BUY NOW button like a robot.

Like the old "Cub stringer reporters of Old "-- motto still valid today -- Always CHECK AND VERIFY.

Absolutely this. I will only ever buy tech products that are sold and shipped by Amazon. I do have Prime too so I am a regular user!
But the fact that the link to this fake product was on an Amazon advert posted on Instagram niggles me, it's like they know it's fake but are trying to sell it anyway...

You got that right. This is the data from 2021.

Amazon overall generated $24.8 billion in operating profits in 2021, and AWS was responsible for $18.5 billion (or 74%) of it. Basically, a business segment that contributes 14% of overall revenue is generating roughly three-quarters of Amazon's total operating profits.

Hi there
with millions of products it's impossible to check every single one -- surely with a bit of due diligence and care one can avoid most "dubious products". I'm sure there are plenty of rogue businesses and dodgy dealers world wide - IMO and from my experience Amazon does a good job and if the user regards places like Instagram as "The fount of all knowledge" then they get what they deserve. It's fairly easy to check out amazon sellers and goods -- if there's little or no info don't buy.

Cheers
jimbo

I agree! for most everything I buy now days, old or new, I try to get from eBay, because any reliable seller will have good feedback, and feedback is the first thing I look for with any purchase.
