I am getting an annoying pop up on the right with messags like make acrobot reader your default. It is already. How do I stop these random pop ups?

This is not in a browser this is on my desktop as a pop up on the bottom right. Comes up on boot. Next time I will do a scrren shot. It is part of my desktop in the morning and nothing to do with any browser. Maybe unclear as you ae not seen the whole monitor.

That looks like a push notification from Chrome.

In Chrome go to
chrome://settings/content/notifications

Remove any sites under "Allowed to send notifications"
