I am currently running ESET Internet Security as my antivirus software, whilst it does a good job the interface is not user friendly at all. Trying to add a web site to be blocked is not easy.
I’ve checked various reviews by software people snd their recommendations differ vastly from user feedback reviews.
Can I have some recommendations from people here as I know that they are competent (mostly) PC users.

Webroot works well but it’s harder than malware to remove when you want to change. MalwareBytes is good.

NavyLCDR,
Clearly Navy was a cut above the National Guard.
You did a lot longer than i did.
Well done.

No need to purchase AV protection. Use MS Defender. If you want to harden it run this portable app: ConfigureDefender and set it to "High".

Healthy fear is a GOOD thing! Check around for the top rated ones, they're out there. Also, this quip from the article above isn't so reassuring......

"you're likely to be just fine with the default protection that's included as part of the platform...."

If that's what you got out of the ZDNet article, it's your money. Enjoy spending it. :geek:

Windows Defender combined with Configuredefender does work very well. Microsoft's version of ransomware protection, it's called Controlled Folder Access can be a pain to use because it blocks legit apps. A lot of people just turn it off. If you really want to add something extra, Malwarebytes Premium works fine with Windows Security, you just need to turn off the setting so it won't register in Windows Security. That keeps Windows from thinking you have a second antivirus. There is also the Malwarebytes free version for on-demand second opinion/peace of mind scanning, but it does not run in real time. Windows Defender has come a long way in the last few years and is now every bit as good as third party antivirus and Malwarebytes is a lot lighter and better than it used to be too.

It’s really personal preference, I’ve used many paid AVs, and currently using Sophos Endpoint (Intercept X) Protection / Bitdefender Total Security 2024.

I've used Webroot on and off for over ten years. Seen it in action taking out Trojan's, brutal, plus it let's your computer breath. I also like Kaspersky, and Avast. Defender is good too, but it tends to suffocate my machines a bit, so I don't use it. Right now I have the latest version of Webroot AV running on my Acer, and my HP laptop.

Or you could send an email or call ESET and get instructions from them as to how to block a specific website. I agree their GUI options can be somewhat confusing.
