I just built a new computer and installed windows 11. Reluctantly coming freshly from windows 7, I have tried and done many things and tweaks to suit my needs more, so I am aware one of those things might be the issue, but I have no idea which, if any. My issue applies to any browser I have tried.
It started randomly and I cannot remember what I did last or exactly when it started happening, a few hours ago is the best I can say.
Whenever I right-click while in the save-as window, that window closes and often the window last used minimizes. The browser itself does not crash; however, Firefox is unique in that it does crash but also the only one to notify me and allow me to give out a report, which I did. Also to note; this issue does not happen in every folder on my computer, and even that seems random, not limited to a certain drive either, or permissions and such. The browsers I have tested are Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Firefox.

I also have tried multiple windows recovery points, none of which mattered (and I know for a fact the issue didn't occur at the time of one point I tried, yet it did even after that recovery). Also scanned my computer for threats and nothing was found.

After some more research; I can sometimes right-click on an item or folder even if clicking on empty space would crash, but even this is very random for which folder it occurs. I have tried to see what the differences between these folders are, and I cannot find anything special. I have changed permissions to full control etc, nothing helps.

Any help is very appreciated.

If you are using WIndows Home and use a MS account, your documents, desktop, and pictures are going to onedrive. It may have something to do with that. You can prove it if you try using 'save as' in browser and choose to save in downloads. Does it work correctly if saving there?

I made a MS account but I am not currently using it. Also OneDrive is not activated and I don't use it. Downloads folder is one such folder that crashes. My SSD root and Sata root, for example, don't, but there are a few random folders such as Steam that also don't, and even folders I made myself elsewhere, again, seemingly randomly.

I would attempt the following procedures.

1. CLEAN BOOT

Perform a clean boot to eliminate software conflict causing the issue. If it doesn't happen in a clean boot, you have some software conflicting with Windows. Brink's procedure will help you weed out which one. Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 11 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts Tutorial

2. SFC/DISM

Make sure you have no corrupt system files that is causing this problem. Open a command prompt as administrator and type sfc /scannow
Pay attention to the scan results to see if SFC found anything it could not repair. If it found corruption it could not fix followup with this command (note the spaces)
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Restart computer

3. REPAIR INSTALL Repair Install Windows 11 with an In-place Upgrade Tutorial

3. REPAIR INSTALL Repair Install Windows 11 with an In-place Upgrade Tutorial

Clean Boot (and Safe Mode by extent) didn't fix anything, and neither did fixing corrupt files (it found and repaired some, but no errors or files it couldn't repair).
I am too scared to do a repair install, so I'd rather try anything else that might help.

Also could it by chance be related to the wifi driver I installed? It is an asus pce-ax1800, and I downloaded the driver from the official asus website. The reason is I took a look at the event logs in event viewer, and one source named 'WLAN-AutoConfig' started appearing around the time this issue started (coincidentially also around the time I installed that driver), however, when recreating the issue, it does not seem to report a new event or error.

You fixed it! Apparently this program "ExtremeCopy" was the issue. I have used it in windows 7 since it was superior to the classic one. However, I can still use it, just with disabled context menu. Thanks so much!!!
