Any time these CPU usage spikes happen any interaction with computer stops for a 1 sec. and then it resumes. It makes an appearance as if computer is lagging in response to anything: typing, browsing internet page, video playing.

I ran this DISM.exe. Seems - no problem
1641635124436.png

Also checked network drivers - all seems are up-to-date.

These spikes of CPU usage are happening even when I don't have any applications open. Is NT Kernel coursing this? I see highest CPU usage.

I would appreciate if you provide any advise.

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum. You did not say how often these cpu spikes happen. An issue of this sort will have to be solved by trial and error.
Have you installed any third party toolbars. That has also been known to cause this problem.

First run the search indexing troubleshooter. Go to Settings-System-Troubleshoot-Other troubleshooters. Scroll down to Search & Indexing-
Click RUN.

The second thing I would do is rebuild your search index.
Reset and Rebuild Search Index in Windows 11 Tutorial

Monitor your situation and report back if it persists after trying these 2 fixes.

I will try.
You did not say how often these cpu spikes happen.
It is happening all the time since I start the computer. All the time, on-going, very frustrating to see this 1 sec spontaneous lagging, when you type something, the text will appear in a few seconds. CPU is busy with something. NT Kernel? It is busiest of all programs. I use Norton-360 as anti-virus, updated. Cleaned everything. Tried highest performance option - no effect, this lagging continues. Laptop is 2 years old.

I will try your suggesting. Thank you very much

Yes, typical approach is in simplifying your software configuration, disabling for test all 3rd party components and drivers, disabling all startup components. In more complex cases need to disable, remove or uninstall some non-vital devices (even the official drivers may be buggy). The next option is in disabling the optional autostart services and other components using msconfig. And finally, something wrong may be in hardware configuration: sometimes the BIOS, esp. recently released and not properly fixed yet, may work in non-optimal mode like excessively overclocking CPU or RAM. Choose the most safe configuration.

Hi IT gurus,
After all the problems of periodic delays and CPU spikes are not solved.
I rebuilt the Reset and Rebuild Search Index - it did not solved anything.
In addition I updated drivers using Driver Easy - no impact
I uninstall Norton 360 - the same, no efect.
Installed Bitsum Real-Time CPU Optimization. - it had a small impact, still delays.

Basically I followed this thread for Windows 10
Nothing helped.

Still I have these spikes in CPU 2 and delays even though all I am doing is typing. I have only open Firefox and Task Managers, reinstall back Norton 360 - nothing else.

Seems like it is a problem with NT Kernel - hyperactive for no reason.

I tried to follow this thread:

KrView (Kernrate Viewer) is discontinued by Microsoft.

How can I see what hitting the NT Kernel?

If someone can look closer at this problem I would appreciate it. Through Windows Performance Recorder
I have recorded the profile.

Thank you,
O

One more idea: try to disable Superfetch (in Windows 11 it's called SysMain service). Usually it's quite harmless, but sometimes may significantly increase CPU usage.

Thank you @Slavic,
But this did not solve the problem.
Maybe something wrong with the hard drive. Or need OS window pro? I have home edition now. I use computer mainly for basic tasks, no games, no heavy usage.

You still have a hard drive and no SSD? Apparently Windows 10 and later suppose that system should be on SSD, using HDD is possible but much less user-friendly because usual tasks are significantly slower and system updates are very long.

Yes. I have SSD. I checked it. Sometimes i hear some hzzz sounds during these CPU spikes. And i have blue screen error sometimes with a computer basically not being loaded. The laptop shuts down for no apparent reason. I use 1 old monitor with this laptop.

I will try to change few things, monitor, OS.

Update: Finally resolved. I turned off NVidia Gforce display adapter and switched to Intel.
It solved the problem, no latency, no delays.
CPU spikes are still there, but looks to this not abnormal.

Seems to me that NVidia advertised everywhere is a total marketing scam. It created the problem for some reason - no idea why. Surprised all actions above did not detect this issue, even drivers update, CPU optimization.

Hope it will help someone else.
