Any recommendations for a static IP when using Starlink?

I need a static IP. Can anyone recommend a DDNS service that is cheap or free? I live in the UK and used to have a BT static IP. But I'm migrating to Starlink. I use SmartDNSProxy to give me a presence in the USA so I can stream from Pandora. But that really needs a static IP.

I also use SmartDNSProxy, but they require a static IP. And Starlink changes my public IP all too often. (I'm about to end my copper broadband with BT Business which does give me a static IP)

I've had a static for so long I forgot about it needing the IP registered.

If you can't sort a static, how about setting a scheduled task or something to keep your IP updated every x minutes or hours via the API?

Or if you have the WSL then just do something like this which sends IP address to your phone or whatever. Set it to run say every 60mins or whatever. In the SMTP commands (ehlo etc) you might need to set the security e.g TLS or whatever. Parameterize the variables so no need for screen input. It's easier though to do it this way while testing.

On most modern full fibre systems the IP address doesn't seem to change unless the router / cablebox has some timed "lease expiry" set. My NAS operating now for 2 months since last boot still has the same IP address (external) as at boot.

@jimbo thanks, but that won't help in my case. I need a static IP. Every time I connect or there's an update, I get a new IP. This means SmartDNSProxy stops working. I can go to their website and refresh my IP but it's a nuisance.

For DDNS, I tried loads of them last year for an IPTV project I was playing with; this one was the best at the time (and free).

@kelper Not sure if this type of thing would work but you could register a domain very cheaply -- you don't have to use it as a public web server but at least it would have a recognisable IP address. Once it's up and running the IP won't change until you reboot your machine. Use Apache (works on Windows as well as Linux for the web server and is really easy) or the IIS (a lot more complex -- but Hey it's Windows isn't it).

Depends of course on what you want your "Remote" connection to be able to do.

My ISP gives you one for one-off £5 payment but they gave me one free when having router issues. So ask your ISP.....

SmartDNSProxy has a nice API to Reactivate if your IP changes; it's a web address that you can save as a favourite and clicking on it will update your IP even if you are not logged in.

The third option worked for me. I've obscured what I think is an API token in case some little devil resets my IP to their own

Wondering does Starlink speed drop to almost nothing at night for you. My cousin had SL for a little while, he said it was useless at night.
Maybe SL over sold??

I used StarLink for about two weeks when my ISP was having problems and my neighbour loaned one of her setups (modem-router and antenna) to me for that period. I never had a static IP problem during that period, day or night.
