Solved Any way to reinstall DirectX?

Hey!

I've been experiencing some very strange problems recently with DLL files and various mistakes. Reasons why those mistakes appear are redistributable files, system file corruption, video card drivers and so on. One of the factors there is DirectX and seems like I've sorted every single one of them out other than DirectX.
I'm using Windows 11 and I'm running latest DirectX which is 12. In the same time, I have lots of problems with trying to run DirectX 9 applications. I know DirectX 11 contains all the previous versions but seems like that doesn't work for me. Even trying to reinstall DirectX doesn't fix anything. I get the error that never version is already installed.
The applications don't really seem to recognize that.

Is there any kind of way I can reinstall DirectX? Is there any kind of way to install it forcefully or something like that? I'm thinking of installing DirectX on top of the one I have already forcefully.

Have just given it a try. Doesn't work. I get the error and the logs say I have newer version of the DirectX installed.

Right click Install_all.bat ..and choose "Run as Administrator"

Odd I installed it earlier in the month worked fine..... How old is the game? I know in windows features, there is a legacy option which has direct play in it.

If thats not it, find a directX 9 Dll collection and drop them into the game "exe" folder, that should override installed directX.

other than that, with all the issues you had, I am guessing there maybe an underlying problem and a fresh install would not hurt.

The "newest" game I'm running is from 2003. :)

Right now, I'm playing Icewind Dale (2000), off of the CD.

My crew is tired, so we decided to stop in for some roast beast and to quaff some mead. :)

You need the DirectX End User Runtimes from here: Download DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) from Official Microsoft Download Center

The Microsoft DirectX® End-User Runtime installs a number of runtime libraries from the legacy DirectX SDK for some games that use D3DX9, D3DX10, D3DX11, XAudio 2.7, XInput 1.3, XACT, and/or Managed DirectX 1.1. Note that this package does not modify the DirectX Runtime installed on your Windows OS in any way.

Installed fine on win11 here and no DirectX9 problems.

I am talking about GTA Definitive Edition which is maybe a month old. Not only that but seems like I encounter the problem when I want to run some programs like Kodi.
I've been writing to their support but I need to extract logs but I'm unable to do that with Kodi. I guess they would be able to tell me what's the problem more specifically if I were able to extract the logs.

Then is sounds like your system is hosed cause those distributable files should have cleared your issue.

Anyway, you can open the DirectX diagnostic tool by typing "dxdiag" (without quote marks) in Run...

This should tell you your current DX version installed. Click on Display, Sound, Input to see if there are any listed issues.

BTW can you post a screen shot of the error you're getting?

Well looking at the DX diagnostic tool nothing seems to be wrong. Curious how you determined Direct X to be the issue?

That said, what are those games? And where did you get them? Are they legit or otherwise?

The reason why I'm thinking it's DirectX is because the message I get can be provoked by it. I removed all the other factors like redistributable files which are working totally fine and doing all those kind of system scans "sfc" and "DISM" commands which don't report any kind of system violation.
It is not about the administrator permissions. Those are basically some factors which could lead to this error. I don't really know what else to try other than DirectX and the reason why I think it's provoked by it is because I get the error I have already mentioned when I try installing it. People who are on Windows 11 don't have that kind of error even when they try to install DirectX 9 for example.

What is one of the applications you are trying to run?
One of the more well known applications, that's causing the problems?

Another option is to get on a "chat" with a Microsoft Advisor.
They will ask to share your screen, to work on the problem.

Or search for something like: How to run xxxxxx application on Windows 11.
Do that for each application you have problems with.

Kodi. I didn't have luck extracting the logs of the software so their support could tell me what the exact problem is. I guess they would solve it by reading the logs therefore giving me the exact cause of the problem for other software, as well.

It happens with some games I try to play but always with those demanding DirectX 9. They don't launch or they behave unexpectedly.
I have reinstalled my graphic card drivers too. Did the malware scan. Nothing has really helped.
