Anyone else leaving Windows 11

Yes I do... but I now have to hover over each icon until the 'right' one appears.

Now imagine having to explain what to do to a newcomer:

'You have to memorise the function of each one of these pictograms... or hover the mouse pointer over each one until a tooltip explains each one's purpose."

I'm debating on upgrading on my main machine. I used developer preview builds of Windows since 8, and I loved being on the bleeding edge. But these days I have a lot of software tweaked just so, and I'm afraid of stuff breaking by upgrading to an unfinished OS. Not only that, I only have TPM 1.2, I'm not sure if my motherboard even supports 2.0 20 pin.

I have W10 and W11...... I like them both!
W10 because of its familiarity.
W11 because of its more advanced features.

Why? We don't get paid to do MS' UAT and QA testing for it instead of the highly skilled and qualified test teams it got rid of.

Also, unless it has changed, the Feedback Hub requires logging in with an MS account... and that's just a step too far.

Ok.. To me it's not a big deal having an MS account but as usual YMMV

That's just a personal peeve.

More importantly, genuinely useful Quality Assurance (QA) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) is, in my experience, almost an art form... it's that specialised.

The entire idea of the insider program is to get feedback from users that helps the MS teams. I don't mind testing since in my past life I was a programmer and I tested lots of code so this is second nature to me.

I enjoy stuff like this and others don't

And I was on my employer's IT test team working with MS bods onsite to implement Windows 7 across ~6500 devices in one fell swoop.

MS' UAT team ran rings around us because they knew the metrics to look for and all we had was the badly-formed opinions of users who were basically not skilled in articulating their IT issues in such terms as 'cause and effect', let alone in technical terms.

It took MS' UAT team to tease out the underlying issues that their backend staff could understand and work on... and it worked. I don't know what we would have done without the highly-skilled MS QA/UAT staff... and then MS got rid of them.

It principle I feel the insider and feedback hub is intended to be user feedback on features and user preferences, not debugging features, especially in the pre-beta stages. In practice I think Microsoft ignores a lot of the feedback and use the telemetry of the insider program to debug their software. I have no problem with using telemetry for that purpose, and I hope I am just being pessimistic on the feedback.

AFAIK you have always been able to send feedback without signing in, I have done so several times. What you can't do without signing in is track any response to your feedback, but there's nothing to stop you reporting a problem. It's the same in both 10 and 11.

Is it just me using Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V, and Ctrl-X for copy, paste, and cut? I don't think I ever used the menu for that ...

Thank you, @Bree. I'm so used to doing clean installs with a script that, amongst other things, automatically removes the Feedback Hub. As a result I wasn't aware that this had changed.

Just did a clean install of windows 10, joined the dev channel and upgraded to Win 11. The right click menu is back to normal. No header with icons or 'more' to click. A,B testing maybe? Still version 22000.51.

Edit, context menu back with header after reboot.

I've just checked my test machine's images of earlier versions using viBoot. I was wrong and you were right, this did change. The first version to allow feedback without signing in was 1607.

No worries... it's not important. I'm still just looking around and haven't yet attached my Windows 11 test laptop to any local network let alone the internet so it's a moot point anyway. :)
