I don't have enough installed on my PC to really need a backup. Right now I can install everything in about 2 hours, tops. Yes.. the question could have been worded badly... but hey.. we're all human and none of us is perfect.
2 hours?????? That is a waste of time and effort. A backup image will do it for you between 5 and 30 minutes like nothing happened.

For my System Two below I swapped out its original drive, put an image of it on the replacement, then upgraded that to 11. Come RTM time it's likely that such an old unsupported machine may be blocked/bricked by MS, so it's original drive will go back in
My System Two (the newly re-built PC) also has a powered "SATA" tail for Win 11 so I don't have to keep opening the case. :ROFLMAO: It doesn't have an external bay for expansion drives.

Not to me.. I'm on disability and I have more than enough time to do that.
You can't make your disability as an excuse for being time inefficient. But I get your point. Fair enough.

Yes but I will dualboot it with Win10.
You would basically be dual booting Windows 10 and Windows 10 with a different start menu. Honestly, guys... there really aren't enough significant changes in 11 to be afraid to run it instead of Win 10. It's more or less the same thing with some minor cosmetic changes.

I don't plan on installing W11 on any of my production machines.
I do have W10 installed in some dual boot (Linux/Windows) environments but only for the sake of the clients I have that use W10.

I'm currently giving W11 a go on an older laptop (intel i5 quad core) with all of the met requirements with the exception of TPM 2.0. (the laptop has TPM 1.2)

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

Already installed. So far, no troubles--just a few minor quibbles that will resolve with time. I have a backup of my Win10 21390 C:\ partition reserved in case something should go dreadfully wrong--but I don't anticipate that being the case. Here's hoping that Microsoft will be a bit more energetic in getting Win11 builds out to us to test. I'm actually baffled by what is taking them so long to resolve the obvious taskbar & start menu sizing and customization issues. Ever since Win8 Microsoft has had rationale and logic problems with the start menu--and now that sort of strange phobia is expanding to encompass the taskbar--for some reason Microsoft is having logic problems with the taskbar! I don't think listening to their customers on either issue is so hard to do. The desktop isn't going away--ever--"devices" and so on--especially cell phones--are no replacements for a desktop system and cannot replace them for a number of easily understood reasons. If the resurgence and market domination by AMD shows anything at all, it shows the truth of that proposition. It baffles me how people in and around the biz for decades can be so easily mislead by the latest fads.

Isn't that the truth...much of what we read today is merely one uninformed person repeating what another uninformed person says--mirrored and echoed across the 'net. I'm always surprised that even when people read "news" items plainly marked as "rumor"--that many people immediately accept even the most ridiculous and unlikely rumors as established facts. Everyone should approach the Internet with highly honed skepticism, imo... "If it sounds too good to be true it probably isn't," etc.

I just completed downloading from the beta channel and upgrading to windows 11 home. all went very well. took almost 5 hours. so far everything is there. settings all checked. I do have one issue. it says it is activated with a digital license linked to my microsoft account. shows an offer to upgrade to Pro. How ever it will not upgrade. error 0x803fa067, says to run troubleshoot below which there is no line.
not huge issue. I have hyper-v on another machine for now.

I was ready for a rebuild anyway. Been running 11 for a couple weeks now with no issues.

I just cleanly installed 22000.132 on my rig, and am setting things back up. I'm leaving off some of the software I had installed previous - MSI Center, Killer Networking Suite, Nahimic (I bought ATMOS - it's better overall IMO), and a few other things.

Previously, I've been running an Windows 10 upgraded install of Windows 11.

I do have one issue. it says it is activated with a digital license linked to my microsoft account. shows an offer to upgrade to Pro. How ever it will not upgrade. error 0x803fa067
Windows 11 and Windows 10 share the same digital licence. Your PC has a digital licence for 10 Home and 11 Home will activate from that.

The error code 0x803fa067 means you do not have an existing digital licence for Pro. If you try to upgrade Home to Pro with the generic Pro key you will always get that error, in W10 or in W11. The 'offer to upgrade' is actually an offer to purchase Pro, the same offer is seen in W10.

If you want to upgrade Home to Pro on a PC that doesn't yet have a Pro digital licence, then you need to use a valid Pro key. That could be one for W7, W8, W8.1 or W10. In practice, that usually means you'll need to buy a licence for W10 Pro.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

unsupported machine: Legacy bios, MBR, TPM 1.2, upgraded from W10 to W11 using W10/W11 hybrid install media workaround. In-place upgrade to 22H2 using ISO and a workaround. Feature Update to 23H2 by manually installing the Enablement Package.
