I run 11 on my laptop at a nonprofit where I work. I would like an app, preferably freeware, which will simply record whatever is being played by/displayed on the system's audio (speakers, earbuds, no difference) and screen to a video file (MP4, etc). This seems fairly straightforward and something that could have a wide range of uses, but I can't seem to find anything which does this.

Search "video recorder" in the MS Store. Lots of options.

When I was recoding my guitar tracks I would use Studio One to record them and then I would use Audacity to play them back

Hi dear, If you want a free recording tool. Don't miss obs. It is really powerful. But it should be mention that it is a little difficult to set up. If you have some problem with it, you can go to the OBS forum and ask for help. You can also try some easy to use paid and affordable recorder such as bandicam, recmaster, wondershare, and so on. They have the free version so you can have a try. Hope this helps you.

If you want something more advanced, as per above suggestions, explore that channel and you will also find guides on how to use that software and alternatives ;)

P.S. I have a GeForce GC and I personally use the overlay tool that comes with GeForce Experience. It's made for recording games but it can also record your desktop
