Apple today released iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5, the newest updates to the iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 operating systems.

Apple's release notes for the update are below.

This update includes the following enhancements:

- End-to-end encrypted RCS messaging (beta) in Messages is available with supported carriers and will roll out over time.
- Pride Luminance wallpaper that dynamically refracts a spectrum of colors, is available for download
- Suggested Places in Maps displays recommendations based on what's trending nearby and your recent searches

I’m pretty sure it said 12GB before I hit the update button —12GB! I wanted a phone update, not the entire Apple Store catalog!

Edit - I've just done my other phone and it said 3.5GB, so maybe I misread it.

Edit - I've just done my other phone and it said 3.5GB, so maybe I misread it.

Hi John, mine was the same but actually said it needed to remove apps to make room due to my phone not having enough space. It somehow restored the apps and info afterward.
