Apple releases iOS and iPadOS 26.6.2

Although I am not a fan of Iphones, I have one for a very specific purpose (hearing aid related).

I have to say that Iphone updates (for supported models) are very efficient and prompt Apple release an update and all relevant phones just get it immediately.

This is unlike Samsung updates where it depends on which region you live, your inside leg measurement and if Saturn is in conjunction with Jupiter.

IOS 27.0 is being released later on Monday at 6pm UK time (10AM US Pacific time).

I actually have IOS 27 RC (Release Candidate) but tbh it is (imo) rather Shania-ish (It don't impress me much).

Its main focus is (allegedly) improved Siri AI.

The one feature that looks it could be really useful is Iphone Handoff where 2 iphones can share same (esim?) phone number but not at same time. Intent is one is the primary phone and other is secondary.

However, this is not available in IOS 27.0 and initially only US or Germany based. Worse it will be carrier based. Verizon have said they will implement but the kicker is they will charge $5 per month for feature.

Not sure about USA: T-Mobile or Germany: Telekom

I have a suspicion all participating carriers will charge a fee. I guess this is inevitable as it is the carriers who provide phone numbers.

TBH, I would be more interested in a handoff feature if there was an android version.
