Arc Browser For Windows Beta Close & Restart Issue

Hello,
I've been having my issue (as some additional users have had as well) upon closing the arc browser in the 'normal' manner of just simply clicking on the red 'X' close button, that on one of my windows 11 pro, 64-bit version that are both running the same exact version of the operating system (currently 23H2 as well as build 22635.3276) that on one computer the browser refused to restart yet on the other computer it restarts properly. I've tried everything I can think of on my end except re-install the operating system from scratch which I really don't like to do unless it has to be done to correct some kind of a 'major' issue of which I don't consider not being able to restart a beta version of a windows browser 'major issue. I didn't know if anyone else is currently evaluating the beta version of arc for windows or not.

When did you start having this problem Davy? Was it after installing the latest and greatest Preview
update from Windows update?

As this particular browser was first released for the apple operating system, they are just now releasing beta once a week. It's slowly but surely getting better with more features being added as quickly as possible. The beta version is being rolled out to people who are interested in testing the beta version to help eliminate potential bugs. You can can read from here : Arc from The Browser Company

Yes, I read about it as I wasn't aware of this new browser. But, since so many members and people
around the web are having trouble with Both the February updates , I was curious to know if this
problem you are having , would / could be related. So, was your problem before or after you installed
those updates and BTW, I do not recommend that anyone install Preview updates . This is only my
view of course but, it seems I was pretty much on the ball this time around.

In regards to the arc browser beta for windows, I actually don't think that it will be widely adopted but then again I could be totally wrong about that. As a side note I've enjoyed using this chromium based windows browser for quite awhile now and I really enjoy using it: Sidekick : download fast and secure browser for work. Remove tab clutter and be more productive! this browser has everything that arc for windows has as well as quite a bit more.

I was invited to try Arc today. I have the same issue. It runs once after installing and never again. It's also difficult to uninstall, even Revo Pro leaves lots of remnants. I'm on the release channel.

I found a temporary fix on Reddit. Go to the last post and download the batch file. It is quite safe.


You need to run this batch file each time you start the Arc Browser

I use bulk crap installer but even though it removes most all of the remaining files pretty well I'm sure it still leaves some fragments left. I've found about the only way to completely remove everything is to go into the registry and delete everything associated with arc & the browser company of new york.
