I'm not sure about that..., I've had my Asus VivoBook going on 3 years now with Insider on it, pretty much from the beginning..., I've put it through hell and back..., it still performs lightning fast! 🤷‍♂️

Yup. A whole ten years old. May as well be a door stop. One more for the recycling bin, no doubt. Surprised it still works. Shouldn't wonder. Meanwhile, I just logged into Windows 7 Ultimate and wow, what a smooth ride that turned out to be. In fact, I'm typing on Windows 7 Ultimate at this very moment, on my old and archaic X99 Platform (prob ten years old too. Win Info has the chip pegged at 5 years.)

I can't believe how responsive this thing is. It's like a breath of fresh air. I almost forgot what it was like to be on a real operating system!

Boy, they sure don't make 'em like they used to. :::sigh:::

My System Two is over 14 years old, but it's certainly no 'door stop'. Currently running 24H2 well (I'm typing from it) and muti-boots Insider Dev and Canary builds, amongst others....

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.
According to WinInfo my CPU is five years old and it is definitely on the not Windows 11 compliant list. The system board was "Windows 10 ready" when I purchased it, but I declined from Win 10 because it could also run 8.1 and 7 without issue. Then life happened. It would seem that I have to have Windows 10 installed on this thing in order to put Win 11 on it again and I just finished spending the better part of the day figuring that out.. Think I'll just stick with 22H2 after all.

I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.
(HWinInfo, I meant) I put secure boot back on and now I can't find my nice, colourful, Intel RAID GUI in BIOS anymore. It's not really essential unless I need it. My main reason for turning it off is because it wreaks havoc on multi-boot systems.

I find Windows 11 adequate. However I do miss Windows Ten.
I believe for the entirety of using Windows 10, I pretty much had zero problems. I certainly can’t say the same for 11, what a cluster duck, especially since 24H2.

I might give 24H2 another go on my main but not any time soon. That warning is kind of scary. Instead, I have to get on with building my Rogue PC because I need to keep this baby as legitimate as possible. Win 11 does seem to work okay on my OTVOC and I gave the Dell touch screen which also uses Win 11 to my daughter as she'll be needing something like that for university. My other daughters have Windows 11 but they never use it. Yes, that's right . . . We run multi-boots here. Wife has it, disliked it, went back to 10. Other two daughters did the same. Nobody here is overly impressed with it. I use Win 11 more than anyone else here. The four ladies of the house all say meh.

Interesting. My wife spends as much time with computers as I do and we both much prefer Windows 11.

I wish it would perform as well as Windows 7 does on this rig. It messed up my Win 10 on my AMD build so badly (even though the x570 passed the compliance test) with the upgrade I had to re install Windows 10 and and use back up to get everything back. Windows rollback failed.
