Are you happy with Windows 11

I find Windows 11 to be fit for purpose and I have had NO issues what so ever. But to be honest I do NOT tinker with it too much, only slight changes to enhance its operation to my liking.

Through out history, as things of any kind, you will always have people stating what they think is better and for what’s it is worth, that is fine, it is their opinion. But like most things, people that voice their opinions the loudest are usually those that object to one thing or another with a particular item. Don’t get me wrong, people that voice their opinions honestly only make life more open. Information is knowledge whether good or bad.

If people are happy, they just usually go with the flow.

Yup. When it hurts I holler. I don't just whine and snivel. I shout it from the rooftops. I guess I'm a bit of a maverick because going with the flow has never been my strongest point. I have no problem taking the blame for my choices either. No doubt all that surgery I did on Windows 10 to eliminate the spyware, bloatware, adware etc. had something to do with that failed rollback. Perhaps it also had something to do with the failed Win 11 upgrade too. Hard to say. I have this bizarre idea that my hardware is my property and privacy is a big part of that. My experience with Win 11 has been largely negative. The features really aren't that profoundly superior and it doesn't strike me as being all that flexible. It's an easy OS to break so perhaps it is easy to fix too.

Not that I'm not willing to give credit where it is due. When Windows XP came out I was blown away by how superior it was to its predecessors. Perhaps I expect too much from Windows. They're not likely to pull something of such magnitude again, I suppose. I'm not from the tablet generation. I'm a boomer. Ashes to ashes, funk to funky... This too shall pass.

I was stupid enough to buy a 9th Gen iPad when they came out, I bet it doesn't have an hour on it. I'm sure one of my grandkids would probably come and visit grandpa, if I were to offer them this.

MY daughters have tablets. They still spend more time on their PCs but they like the mobility a tablet offers. They also have laptops and they use them also. I gave my touch screen laptop to my elder daughter because I prefer using a mouse and she needed a decent i5 that runs Win 11 for university. Guess what she uses most? A: A 14 year old Dell Studio XPS desktop with the original i7 Bloomfield quad core CPU.

Windows XP Pro x64 on a PC from the LAN center I volunteered at.. went it sadly went under I was gifted a PC.
and Windows 2000 before that on an old Gateway PC...
Windows 98/95 and the first would have to be Windows 3.1 on my mom's PC.

Same here that is what i started of with windows 3.1 and worked my way up but now got windows 11 oh so much better

I still have the 3.0 and the 3.1 floppy's, I wonder if the will work with 24H2?

wow have you not tried it mind you, you will need a floppy disc drive but no doubt you still have one lol

Yep - I laugh my backside off at the negative rubbish often put out by Windows 7 recidivists.

If you tried to run many modern apps on it now, it would fall over with all sorts of inexplicable bugs, even if they could run.

I ditched Windows 7 years ago. Despite MS's foul up with Windows 8 gui design, it was TECHNICALLY far superior in so many ways (once 8.1 was issued).

There is a lot of criticism about Windows 11 being buggy but of course, people forget it took about 3-4 years before Windows 10 became more reliable - micro freezing, bsods being a couple of the early key issues a lot faced.

Although there are a few irritating bugs in Windows 11, none of them are true showstoppers and the OS is rock solid.

One can argue about gui design, how pretty OS is etc. but the most important question is how well does the OS run apps, wiich of course W11 is simply the best.

I fiddled around with my friend's Win 95 for a while, but I had a Tandy at the time that served my needs well so I was in no rush to get a new Windows PC. Later on my boss bought a desktop with Win 98 and I got hooked on Windows. The following year I purchased a top of the line Sony VAIO desktop running of all things Windows ME and man, that OS sure had a learning curve! I was no stranger to blue screens after that. Later, I got XP Pro and was simply amazed. I suppose XP spoiled me because I rather expected each following OS to have that much dynamic impact and of course none of the operating systems that followed XP compared to the tremendous improvement XP made compared to its predecessors.

Windows Vista was not much of an improvement on XP, but after three service packs it shaped up pretty good. I liken Vista to the beta testing OS for Win 7. As for performance Windows 7 was the juggernaut. Although not quite as stable as XP it was easy to recover, flexible, and offered several personalization options. Win 7 Ultimate gave me peak performance on a Bloomfield quad core and I have to say I was impressed with this robust operating system.

Since the advent of Win 8 it's all been downhill IMO. Windows 8 (not 8.1) was essentially a tablet operating system. They took all the tools out of the trunk and chucked them and said, "see how much faster and smoother it runs?" and nobody was impressed because when it broke down it was a pain to fix. Needless to say, it didn't last long. Microsoft scrambled to give us Windows 8.1 because very few were impressed with Win 8. What some folks don't know is that the difference between Windows 8.1 and Windows 8 is greater than the difference between the final version of Windows Vista and Windows 7. That's a huge difference in architecture! Windows 8.1 should have been called Windows NINE because it was an entirely different OS.

Then came Windows 10 with all it's spyware, bloatware, adware, and Cortana. Need I say more?

IMO Windows 7 Ultimate (64 BIT) marked the peak of what Windows had to offer. It's been down hill ever since the introduction of the tablet OS and Windows 11 isn't enough to impress me in the least. Microsoft is still chasing tablets and mini junk so tiny you can barely even type on it. For once I'd like to see them come out with a solid, flexible and robust OS that offered the features of Win 7 Ultimate and has the stability of Win XP but I know that's asking too much because the golden years are over and they can't afford to make any real DESK TOP operating systems anymore. The next generation (with the possible exception of gamers) doesn't want a bunch of klunky old desk tops. No, they want their tablets and their smart phones. Even laptops are fading away in favour of lighter, more portable technology.

I'm a dinosaur and I'll be the first to admit it. I like being a dinosaur. Not quite 70 yet but I have a 13 year old daughter who thinks I'm the greatest and loves to build computers with me. Together we keep the dream alive. We save old computers from dumpsters by rebuilding them and giving them to her friends.

I like a little variety in life, I have a buffet of drives with about every os made in the past on them. So, when I get bored, I still play around with all of them. XP Pro is about the only one that gave me a problem with my lan, I never could get it to work, so I bought a tp-link and got it to work on Wi-Fi. Windows NT 4.0 gave me the same issue, but will work on Wi-Fi.

Using Windows 11 since 2021, I get used, spite shortcomings that I find that I can live with them, for me Windows Is a good operating system because it works

Dell had a driver that made it possible to get online with Win XP via Ethernet cable. I wish I could remember which driver it was but for a while I was having a blast with it. Mozilla made it possible for me to do a little social networking to show off to my friends that I was actually using XP online. Alas, I moved since then and a lot of stuff got lost in the shuffle.

Yeah, I got very worn out trying to find a driver, I was about ready to go jump in the creek, but then I thought about Wi-Fi.

I'm a Relic, so most anything in the past works for me. 11 does everything for you, I can't blow off any steam installing something that simple.

That was very resourceful of you. I would have never even thought of WiFi because I'm too recidivist to use WiFi in my house. I've got Ethernet cable all over the place here. lol

I just recycled one of those a couple month ago! It was a tank but the battery pack was shot and the processor didn't support what I needed.
