That says you have Firmware TPM where does it also say you also have "Hardware" TPM?

For Windows 11 firmware should suffice; however your owner's manual may say something different (if you actually have both).

I just finished reading that first article. Curious to see how they're going to accomplish that feat. Also hope this doesn't turn out to be some sort of marketing play to sell more motherboards.

I sure would like my Ivy bridge to have that option. Wishful thinking, maybe.

Unless this is old news some hack has dug up from before Microsoft published it's list of approved CPUs, it doesn't make sense to me as Z270 boards as do Z170 have TPM2, obviously the 6th and 7th Gen CPUs won't be compatible unless they intend to pour some kind of magic potion over the CPUs. I suspect a bit more misinformation is being circulated.

Could be some very angry people taken in by all the unverifiable stuff and assumptions that are being posted, when come actual release, it's quite possible none of it is actually true.

My other point is the news that Asus trying to find a way around 11's requirements is sure to garner some sales. If I'm looking at building a new system but am undecided on a board, this news article might sway me in that it says Asus even supports their old boards.

Whether they can deliver on said promise is another thing altogether though. And in part would also depend on Microsoft. Microsoft's cooperation thus would also open the door to other vendors, not just Asus, so...

But that's just my hypothesis :)

One year back I bought a new ASUS Laptop. Its CPU is Vivo Book AMD A12-9720P RADEON R7, 12 COMPUTE CORES 4C+8G. I ran WhyNotWindows11 and the result showed that only the CPU of my one year old ASUS Laptop was not compatible with Windows 11. In the meantime I joined the Windows11 Forum and found that many Members had similar problem and they were still running Windows 11 without much hitch.

I too tried two or three times but failed and resigned myself to continue with WinVer 21H1. Last week MicroSoft themselves offered in Windows Insider Program to upgrade the OS to WinVer 21H2, that the ASUS went through successfully and now it is running Windows 11 (OS Build 22000.176) smoothly.

My question is that when Windows 11 is rolled out by Microsoft around 5th October 2021 Will my device stay with it or be roll back to WinVer 21HI?

Oh.. ok.. but they are the best brand out there and their support is the best. this is just more proof.

if it helps with decision making I've recently replaced my main desktop with new - it uses a PRIME X570-PRO MB and it passed all the tests [after I'd switched on the fTPM that was off by default]

Maybe ASUS only did this for Insiders to test on unsupported CPUs so had a look and........

Z270 already supported. That would appear to cover the boards that have TPM2 but are for unsupported CPUs.

Just because a motherboard is compliant doesn't mean a thing if you can't stick an compatible CPU in it.

Unless someone makes some kind of software wrapper to falsify the CPU's identity, remember the Voodoo Glide wrappers for those with out a 3dfx card, this is going nowhere.

Not surprising as all motherboards sold today would have firmware TPM. My 2016 Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming GT has firmware TPM. Unfortunately (per Microsoft) my intel i7-6700K or i7-7700K on my 2017 Gigabyte GA-Z270X-Gaming 8 board aren't supported, despite the fact that both boards have firmware 2.0 TPM included (and enabled).

There are reports on tinternet that MS say it will be possible to clean install win11 using unlisted cpus .

Therefore, whatever Asus are doing might be connected to that.

Microsoft spokespeople have today clarified that users who choose to manually upgrade or clean install Windows 11 this fall using ISO media or the Media Creation Tool will not be hard blocked based on the CPU generation requirements as laid out by Microsoft's official requirements list.

I had that exact card. Dual GPUs. Sold it to a collector when PCIe came along. :)
I also had the Voodoo 3 3000 AGP.

I had one of those but got ride of it some years back. BTW, I also still have my Creative AWE 64 Gold soundcard. It's buried in my garage somewhere, but I don't have the box it came in.

I still have a 6800 GT (AGP) and a FX 5600 Ultra (AGP) cards. :)


Here's a pic of the cards I still have... I also have a GTX 780 Ti and an RTX 2070 (not shown)...

I started ridding myself of old parts about a year ago. I thought about posting stuff online for sale, but didn't want to deal with the drama of stuff being said not to work so I just started file 13 ing stuff (file 13 = trash).

Still have some old motherboards, GPU, and soundcards in their original boxes but not much left now since my file 13 purge last year.
