I wanted to remove Avira Anti-virus, but the uninstallation didn't fully complete, and though the programme folders are gone, I was left with some entries in the registry. They won't allow me to remove them manually.
The result is that Windows Defender, when I run it, appears as just a blue background with the log/shield on it. I tried reinstalling Avira but the setup tells me I already have the programme, and the 'Repair' option fails at 50%. Revo uninstaller doesn't see any Avira software.. so I am now stuck. There are, apparently, Microsoft removal tools, but none of the links I have found actually leads me to what I might need.
Would appreciate some help in getting rid of the last remnants of Avira (only in the registry, I think: the three folders in C drive aren't there, at least), so that I can run Defender.
Many thanks!
