11 Pro for Workstations v. 25H2 build 26200.8655
Good day, folks. I’m having trouble with the Background Intelligent Transfer Service on my home-built PC (System One in my specs). Every time I reboot (and often when I don’t), the Startup Type pings back to Manual and the service is stopped. I set it back to Automatic and start the service, but five minutes later it’s back to Manual and stopped. Any ideas why this would happen? I’m of the understanding that the service is important for updates. The actual Windows Update Service is running as it should, so I’m in the dark as to why the Background Intelligent Transfer Service is not playing ball. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Non sequitur: I have a Windows 95 VM set up *exactly* the way my long-departed Pentium 120 machine had been in 1995, complete with the same wallpaper, 1024 x 768 screen resolution, Doom, Encarta 95, Office 95 and Netscape Navigator. It tickles me pink. Have magnanimously decided to run with 512MB of RAM instead of the measly 32MB of the original. The little things in life do matter.

It doesn't and shouldn't be set to automatic. Whenever BITS job is created it will start, complete the job, and then shutdown.
