Bad Disk Reported

My sincere apologies to @Dark Knight
I'm always surprised when anyone has a decent experience with Western Digital drives.

I used them many years ago and switched to Seagate for HDD, Samsung, Crucial, and Inland for NWMe and SDD.
Sorry, I'm working on some PCs that have *gasp* WD HDDs in them and will be swapping them out for drives that actually work and load Windows 11 without problems. lol

My apologies, every once in a while I think we all need a good rant, and today my frustration with WD has returned.
I hope that @Dark Knight has a good resolution and doesn't lose any data.

FWIW, I've been using computers since before the original IBM-PC, and I worked for IBM on the big iron in the 1960's. Over the 40+ years I've had personal computers, I think every hard disk brand has had their good runs and their bad runs. To paint any manufacturer with a single brush is a mistake. They've all had their hits and their stinkers!

@gunrunnerjohn That's fair. That said, of all the brands I've used over many years including Seagate, Samsung, Toshiba, IBM Deskstar, Hitachi, Crucial, Inland, Dell, etc, WD had the most issues overall.

Could well be, but that's a sample of one. Others may well have had different experiences. Of the current producers, I think I've had more issues with Seagate. However, that may be because they were shipping more drives, or I just had more Seagate drives at one time.
