Solved BCM4324 driver not present

Hi, I’m installing windows 11 on an old ThinkPad 10 tablet, however there is no wifi compatibility. I tried installing wifi drivers, but they either didn’t work or gave error “Install.cpp 1023”. Can anyone help?

Try installing the chipset driver, then the network driver.

Where can I find these? Can you send a link?

Please fill out your computer specifications.

And

Please type “Winver” into search on your PC and open it. Please type the version and build that it reports, into your “System Specs / OS” section (first on the list where you have placed “Windows 11”)

Like this for example: Windows 11 Pro 23H2 Build 22631.3296

It came with Windows 8.1. Official manufacturer drivers are available but do not work. It is a Lenovo ThinkPad 10 Series (I forgot the specific model, will give when I can).
I cannot remember the specs. Apparently 1903 of Windows 10 broke drivers that worked on windows 8? It gives an error of “Install.cpp 1023” as I remember. There are no other drivers, and I just need to connect to the internet to get the rest. I’ve looked and tried a lot but none worked.

Near the top left of this Lenovo page you can enter the serial number (When you find it) which I believe should be under the tablet? Not sure what you’ll find in there, at the very best, Windows 10 drivers, but I am not sure sorry.

Make sure you check in Windows “Optional Updates” though.

Did you try to unpack the driver and update it through Device manager?

Not to be gloom and doom, but those tablets came with either 2 or 4 gb of ram soldered to the motherboard and an old atom cpu. IMO If yours is 2 gb, you can forget about 11 working at all. Even at 4gb you will be struggling..

As far as wireless, The latest Broadcom network drivers in MS Update catalog are dated 2017 but the latest wiresess driver are for the BCM5000 series. If you can find one for your wireless you can try installing in compatibility mode but it's doubtful. Microsoft Update Catalog
I believe that tablet has one usb port. A new wifi dongle with readily available drivers costs about $10. You can also find usb ethernet dongles for about the same price.

Chances are you will not find any biometric (ie touch) drivers that will work either. I had a HP tablet of the same vintage. I was not able to get touch working past Windows 10 1803

I happily have a 4GB model, and it’s not that bad. I got windows 11 running on a Chromebook made in 2020. It has similar specs except for cpu so I don’t think it’s that bad.
Anyway, I heard that someone simply installed windows 8.1, set it up, performed an in-place upgrade and it worked.

You can not directly upgrade from 8.1 to 11. You would have to go from 8.1 to 10 to 11. Question...Are you running 11 unlicensed?

I have Windows 11 running on possibly the least appropriate device, my little AOD270 netbook. With its Atom N2600 and just 2.99GB usable RAM it's good enough for a little light browsing. The ThinkPad 10 tablet however has an Intel Atom Z3795 with a benchmark three times that of mine. As long as it has 4GB RAM it should be quite usable.


In addition, unlike my N2600, the Atom Z3795 has SSE4.2 and the PopCnt instruction, so will be capable of running 24H2.

Lenovo have Windows 10 drivers for the ThinkPad 10 tablet on their support site.

Yes that is true. I tried them and they error out.
