beginner with first posting

just went from windows 8.1 to this windows 11 2.5 months ago and still don't know much about this new OS. i cannot find the system specs, still having trouble with email, speech recognition is acting up, don't know how to post photos in emails, and pretty much everything else, so please bear with me. i will be asking a lot of questions here. oh and at 68, i am a disabled senior citizen.

That's a lot to sort out.

Thanks for being willing to make the effort to fill in your system specs.

If the PC is a Dell, you may be able to get detailed specs for it by finding the service tag and checking it at the Dell website.

What program are you using for emails? I use Thunderbird (from the same group that makes the Firefox web browser).

Everything you mentioned, especially Email and Attaching photos is the same in all versions of Windows 8 and previous versions. Anything you can't find, you can use the Search function, on the taskbar, or in the upper right once you are in a specified folder or directory.

You have been told how to access System Information. Go to the "Start" Button and select Settings (looks like a cog)

As for Email, are you using the Mail app in Windows 11? or Outlook in the Microsoft Office Suite? or are you using an online client, like Gmail, Yahoo mail etc? To attach a picture in an Email, use the Paperclip icon in the Toolbar and browse it to your picture on the computer

For Speech, go to Settings/Accessibility/Speech.

Look in the tutorials section - many of your questions will be answered there.

Rather than flooding a thread with multiple questions, best to ask only one or two in separate threads or responses get very tangled up and difficult to follow.

PS we have many users on this forum who make you seem like a youngster by comparison

In a new message, a reply, or a forwarding message, select Attach File (or image) from the Insert group on the Message tab.

How so? Are you sure it isn’t your Mic acting up.
Tell us what is happening?

cereberus is correct though, best to make a thread for each question. Then you can have 25 people answer the thread, repeating each other, leaving you wondering what just happened.

Still, it’s a lot better to make a thread per query..
