    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

Interesting but the Chromium-based version isn't available on the Chrome Web Store. You have to download and install it third party. The Firefox version is readily available though.

I'd guess there's money involved.
Like Google getting a kickback to make it difficult to block pay walls, or something.

That wouldn't surprise me. I'm trying it with Vivaldi and it worked with a NY Times articale paywall. I manually added the CRX file to the extension page.

The best browser is whichever one works best for you and one you enjoy using the most. I tried about 5 before I settled on FF with Edge as backup. The thing I dislike about both of them is the amount of ram they use even with no add-ons, but I've got plenty so don't worry about it too much.

For the vast majority of users, Chrome still rules supreme, but now Edge is the second most used browser, and whilst I doubt it will ever take over Chrome (in the forseeable future), its market share will steadily grow as people buy new devices (particularly younger users) and find Edge more or less does the same as Chrome these days.

To me, the browser wars are effectively over, and apart from Chrome and Edge, the others will only ever be a niche market and will gradually shrink in popularity.

The niche players can really only survive by offering features not in Chrome or Edge, and even then, their financial model is ultimately not sustainable as their market share shrinks. I reckon a lot of browsers will stop having significant development and will stagnate, with perhaps only major bugs being fixed (even if that?).

I used MyIE before bc att there was no Tabb browsing lol. I use Firefox but going to try Maxthon again

FF if you still like menus and the sensible ways of pinning your favourite sites to the toolbar.

Lynx if you still need a text only based browser --actually works very well too. !!!

Whatever browser you use I hate Bing as the default search engine. DuckDuckgo is the one to use,
