Best email client (free or paid) OTHER than Outlook

The OP posts his question and then deserts his post? :) Are you receiving/watching @zinc ? Responses would be nice.
Like a hawk. đź‘€ :)

Wondering:
1) If Thunderbird and/or em Client has a way to import Outlook (MS Office 2021) and/or Vista Windows Mail files. (haven't checked yet)
2) If either will allow me to actually set them up. I tried to set up Thunderbird BEFORE taking a knee to MS Outlook. Thunderbird insisted my ISP/settings were not in their database (or something to that effect). Perhaps I gave up too easy.

Have you tried Webmail? Most ISPs provide online E-Mail.
Yes. But despise having to log in to see if an important email arrives. Sounds petty perhaps. I just want a client that is reliable, and has the ability to set up mail filters....and as a bonus to import mail from Outlook 2021 and/or old Vista Win Mail.

I was following your other post on your email issue. May I throw one suggestion at you. When using multiple devices with different email apps to receive mail, per account, it is best to use the same email protocol on all devices. (imap or pop) Pop is an old standard from back before mobile devices were able to receive emails and folks had only one computer. Having an account as pop on one device and imap on another can give mixed results. The imap standard is the much preferred way of dealing with emails these days. With imap, when an email is deleted on one device, it's deleted from them all and from the server so your devices are not butting heads in dealing with your email..
Spot on. I learned that the hard way; POP account (set up 13 years ago on Vista PC) took all the emails from my webmail server AND snatched them right out of the Outlook Inbox (IMAP). My fault for not knowing what I am doing, and not staying up to date w/tech :(

(Win 11 Pro, Outlook as part of Office 2021) Apologies for looking for it offered on a platter but if you read my plight w/Outlook perhaps you might forgive. I have done hours of google search & reading reviews but you folks here don't seem to have any vested interest in recommendations as opposed to some "unbiased" "review" sites.

I'm just so sick of the Win 11 Outlook madness: sometimes doesn't get emails even with a frequency of 1 min overnight. Sometime will only get emails if I close & open Outlook. And today DISAPPERRING emails from my inbox! (posted today)

If I can't fix Outlook (IOW someone giving me the solution) I'm leaving Outlook for Anything that just actually works (as well as my Vista Windows Mail - which never missed a beat for 10 years).

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Recently, I started using Vivaldi browser/(built-in) email. So far, I have no complaints. You can give a try :)

I use both Outlook and Thunderbird. Thunderbird was my main email client but I can no longer recommend it which is why I searched and found this thread.

Reasons:
  1. Slow - in some ways, much slower than Outlook when downloading email. Furthermore, I always have had issues seeing some downloaded emails. They don't show immediately and you have to wait awhile before the email is displayed.
  2. Corrupted Emails - I have been having issues seeing downloaded emails. Especially the ones that are newly downloaded. Sometimes, they will appear corrupted or mashed with other emails. I needed to login to my ISP's webmail facilities in order to move the emails around to different folders (and back again) before they are re-downloaded by Thunderbird and shown properly again.
  3. Lost emails - With the recent build, I am losing sent emails. I would send them in Thunderbird and they will not appear in the Sent folder. I use and email a lot from my Android email client and iOS Mail client and never have a problem. Outlook also does not have an issue here.
  4. Terrible Support - if you are like me and you have a problem, you would want to reach out to a dedicated support channel for issues but guess what? Its a best effort support team at best and community support at worst. There isn't a lot of people staffed to field support issues posted to their support site so even the community support is a bit lacking.
For what its worth, I have been using it since its release and in its current form, I cannot recommend it.

I'm going to eM client next before settling back to Outlook 100%. The reason why I moved my mail client from Outlook was because I found it complicated to use. I am a power user but I absolutely loath the Outlook interface. Its rules engine could also do with more work.

Hey @clam1952 - your guess is as good as mine. All I can think of is that perhaps you have less emails than I receive per day. My email provider is the largest telco on my side of the planet so I doubt its them. Not to mention, my Android's email client (FairEmail) and my iOS default Apple email client which downloads the same emails from the 10 email accounts I have as they have access to the same inboxes I have on Windows so you got to wonder about what is going on with Thunderbird.

Its possible Thunderbird may need more tweaking because of the loads I place on it but there is no optimization guide that I am aware of that Mozilla supports and publishes.

Like you, I've been happy with Thunderbird until it started its 100.x releases. Without any information to back this claim, I suspect it is because they are trying to make Thunderbird more full blown. i.e. adding all sorts of additional features like calendar (which I never use), PDF viewer, etc etc. Bloatware in the making. As a result, the amount of resources it uses and the amount of connections it must maintain (constant open connections to IMAP servers, calendars, etc) must be growing.

I wish there was someone in the Mozilla team that actually looked after support because there is no incident tickets I can raise apart from the messages I send in their support forums. In there, replies can take days/weeks or not at all. There is no service level agreement as to the turnaround time to close queries raised.

So seeing a "premium" support in eM Client raises my heartbeat a little bit. But at the same time, I am cautious because I don't want to migrate my client only to having to migrate again because my decision to jump to eM Client was emotional rather than a logically thought through process.

@Edwin I use Mailbird on Mac OS but didn't really like the version previous to the one where they ask me to pay to use. Does it now have a filtering engine where I can filter emails to subfolders?
