When talking about performance, most people refer to RAM, but there is also CPU, disk and network.
A sudden spike in either can cause a serious lag, which can be deadly for an online gamer. So beware!

This is about right. I am running a "Grandpa's computer" and don't play games at all. All I care about is that the AV provides good protection, doesn't take RAM away from the web browser, and doesn't churn the SSD so much. A slow scan isn't even an issue because it hardly affects the slow web browsing.

I came close to trying Webroot the last time my Eset license had to be renewed. I don't remember why but at the last minute I decided to stay with Eset. I think my license expires in May so I'll consider trying Webroot before I renew.

But it is a digital download! But yes, you could try going to eBay.com and searching for Webroot!

I used that UK company for tyears so can reccomend it.

@kelper I'm in the process of slowly moving from the Canary builds as my main OS to using 24H2 as my main OS. My Eset subscription is close to needing to be renewed and now would be a good time to test Webroot in my 24H2 build. This way I can test Webroot and still use Eset in my Canary build. Does Webroot have a trial I can install in 24H2 for testing?

There are many versions of Webroot. I would go with the basic anti-virus or the inernet security plus. I dont think the Internet Security Complete with AntiVirus is worth the extra cost.

I think Gmail is perfect, but I also use mail.com for a disposable address.

I haven't used a disposable email in years. For my emails I use my Google and Comcast accounts. eM Client is installed and downloading my emails. Comcast is finished. Now I'm waiting for my Gmail to finish. When done I'm going to enter my license key. I was thinking that my eM Client key was only good for one computer. When I checked my account I found that it's good for two computers. I'm not sure why but both activations were being used. I deactivated the oldest activation so I should be able to activate the 24H2 install and still be able to use the Canary build activation.

I'm addressing the point that it won't counter malware still operating silently. Even if it did, it won't reverse data theft.

I also use ESET Internet Security and before that it was NOD32 for many years. I have not had any problems with applications and it keeps my system safe. I found NOD32 many years ago then upgraded and I never changed a good thing :) Hope you find a AV that suits you.

AV-Comparitives does not test Webroot as the program works in a way they can't assess. Webroot seems even lighter than ESET and I have had excellent support from Webroot. But YMMV.
