Gigabyte release another BIOS update for my mobo with a security fix & it also re-flashed the CPU again with the previous update.

After update Windows requires activation again! :mad:

Fortunately, the built-in check asks if I changed any hardware ( I didn't) so I clicked it anyway & it fixed it :-)

No hardware change, just firmware update. This balls up happened a few months ago. I ended up ring Microsoft for help.

Probably time to call Microsoft. Don't know what is happening, I've Updated my BIOS a few times, as well as enabling secure boot and having to regenerate my passcode, and my activation was never compromised.

This was a firmware update, not BIOS. I had the same issue a few months back.

Admittedly, I'm in the dark on this one so I'll begin with the obvious no-nos. If you have any drives other than the drive you intend to be using as your main drive (Drive C) THAT. . . Once upon a time had operating systems on them, or, still have operating systems on them, disconnect those drives and try again. You might also want to check for any Windows. old folders. Disc cleanup can take care of those. Sorry. Based on the sparse information that's all I got.

There are several firmwares in a computer. The system UEFI firmware ("BIOS"), the TPM firmware, the PD (Power Delivery) firmware in the USB-C ports in a laptop, the internal SSD firmware... Check in Device Manager.

Surely he's not talking about any "driver" updates for the motherboard. . I've got an ASUS Motherboard and an MSI Motherboard, and like you said, CPU firmware updates come with the BIOS update.
