Solved Black and white emoji in chrome and edge

For a while Im facing emoji issue in edge and chrome. What the worse Im not sure what can cause that, I've tried reinstalling chrome, checking windows updates. My windows 11 version is 22H2
Anybody may know what can cause that? In firefox emoji are colorful.

Welcome to the forum.

I believe it is by design, the way chrome renders & the font used by the browser, and that the fix is apparently using another browser that isn’t chrome based. There are a lot of comments on this issue found through Google, but nothing that seems to fix it that I could link you to.

You could try this. Apparently some believe it is due to the font, font weight used by chrome in CSS style sheets..

Hello thank you for your contribution. Do you have any more ideas? I tried that, unforfortunatelly without positive result. I also forgot to say it happens on most website but not all for example facebook printing colorful emojis, but as I know facebook has his own emojis so that's not the point. Looks like something is wrong with Segoe UI emoji (that's my best guess)

I installed Chrome to see, I went to that link using Chrome:

Chrome is up to date
Version 115.0.5790.171 (Official Build) (64-bit)

I see colour emojis.



Please click on the 3 dots top right of Chrome browser go to Settings/About Chrome. What version of Chrome are you using?

If your Chrome is up to date as mine is, maybe you're using an extension that is causing issues?
If you use extension's uninstall them all, go back to that link above and see if the emojis are now in colour.
If they are, start re-adding your extension's one by one, restart Chrome after you add each extension and go back to the above link to check after adding each extension.

Or you could do it in reverse, try removing them one by one and checking. But with extensions (I use Firefox) I uninstall Firefox, re-install it and disable/do not allow sync and then start re-adding the extensions and test.

It's all I can suggest atm.

I have checked disabling extensions, but it didn't worked.
Luckily - My guess was correct Segoe UI were corrupted (?)
Anyway I tried installing twitter emoji from github repo and uninstalling it - reboot and my emoji are finally colorful. If somebody will have similar issue that's worth checking for sure. I used "twemoji-color-font" if I am to be precise.

That’s good news mate, Yes I did see that font mentioned when I was looking for you, in relation to BOLD CSS markup .

Good job
