I had set my new computer to sleep after 30 minuets of non use, so i didn't give it a thought when i saw the black screen, the small light was on so knew it was still working.

But when i tried to wake it up nothing happened then i tried shutting it down by pushing the start stop button again nothing happened i pulled off A/C power cord but internal battery kept the light on.

Am thinking two weeks and new computer is a dead brick, thinking on black Friday it's back to Best Buy then i started pushing the start stop button again, many times and will wonders ever cease i see the other small lights start flashing and up it comes alive what has happened.

Well what i did not know is the computer was set for auto software upgrade of Windows 11, and even as my computer was sleeping, it was being upgraded, and would not be able to start till upgrade finished.

I think if the computer had been awake i would have been given a warning of the upgrade.

Another strange thing my loaded Chrome Browser had all my urls address's removed, forcing me to type each address in again, am thinking if my Browser had been Microsoft Edge instead of Google Chrome it would not been effected.

Anyway i removed the computer sleep from 30 minuets to never.

Sorry no one has responded sooner.
Yeah, new laptops with modern standby do weird and crazy stuff. Some motherboard on these new laptops will allow the user to disable modern standby and go back to the old S3 sleep we have always been accustomed to. Sadly, others do not. You can see if yours will allow it by following this tutorial. Disable Modern Standby in Windows 10 and Windows 11 Tutorial
To see what power plans are available to you both before and after the change, open a command prompt as admin and type
powercfg -a
If you are able to enable S3 sleep, then you can go back into your power settings and set the sleep time again.

Literally Thousands of complaints about MS "Sleep" have been recorded on PC Help Forums since its first release by MS.
And in all the years, MS has not been able to make it 100% reliable. So the safe answer is "set sleep to NEVER" and forgetaboutit!

The safest thing is to just turn your PC OFF, when you're not using it. Your PC will do some badly needed internal Housekeeping during a Power OFF and ON sequence. In the world of the computer Main Frame, it's called "Bouncing the system" and it's done on many big systems once a day.

The life of any computer is rated in hours of Run time. Extend the Life or your own PC by just turning it off when not in use.

The safest and most efficient Computer Shutdown is accomplished using a Shortcut to the "Shutdown" command.
Create a desktop (or taskbar) shortcut, using this syntax:
%windir%\System32\shutdown.exe /s /t 1

Yes, there are three spaces in that command, that need to be there.
It will make sure that all running programs are CLOSED, before the PC is shut down.

Good Luck, Mate!
