I just updated from Win 10 to 11 last night and today my Bose QuietComfort 35 II headset seemed like it just wasn't transmitting any audio. After going through a number of troubleshooting steps (delete/add, update driver, clear device cache, etc.) I thought I finally got it working by running the Windows "Playing Audio" troubleshooter and turning off audio "Enhancements", but that wasn't it. As soon as I closed the Troubleshooter, the audio stopped working. Opening the Troubleshooter reactivated the audio and it runs smoothly for as long as I was... as long as the Troubleshooter is open. I don't even have to go through the dialogs, just open it.
The Troubleshooter is in System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Playing Audio.

Running the troubleshooter fully through doesn't maintain the fix. I didn't have this issue yesterday or prior while on Win 10.

I don't want to just have the Troubleshooter open at all times for audio to work. Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you!

Welcome to the forum. It would help us help you if you would fill out your system specs in the forum so we know what you are working with. Before doing anything else I suggest you back up your data first.

Things to try:

1. Run bluetooth troubleshooter. Select Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters . Next to Bluetooth , select Run and follow the instructions.

2..Uninstall bluetooth adapter in device manager. Right click on device and select uninstall. Check the box to uninstall the driver.

3. Restart and let windows detect the bluetooth. It will install what it thinks is an appropriate driver. There have been a lot of Intel bluetooth driver updates recently. Since you did not complete your system specs, I do not know what bluetooth adapter you have so can not point you to latest manufacturer driver. Windows update does not install the latest driver but maybe the one it has will get yours working.

4. Make sure airplane mode is off: Select the Network, Sound, or Battery icons ( ) on the right side of the taskbar, then make sure the Airplane mode quick setting is turned off.
  • Re-pair your device. Turn Bluetooth on and off: Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices . Turn off Bluetooth , wait a few seconds, then turn it back on.
  • Remove the Bluetooth device, then add it again: Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices . In Devices, select More options for the Bluetooth device you’re having problems connecting to, and then select Remove device > Yes.

5. You might try applying windows update kb5022913 which addresses an issue with bluetooth (not exactly your issue) It should be an optional cumulative in windows update which bring you up to version 22621.1344.

6. Make sure you have no corrupt system files that is causing this problem. Open a command prompt as administrator and type sfc /scannow
Pay attention to the scan results to see if SFC found anything it could not repair. If it found corruption it could not fix followup with this command (note the spaces)
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Restart computer

(Note-you can follow up with another sfc /scannow command to make sure that dism repaired the files)

7. You can either clean install Windows 11 or revert back to Windows 10 if you are have upgraded within the last 10 days.
Settings > System > Recovery > Go Back

Thank you glasskuter for all the options. I've run through then all (except reverting to Win 10) but it hasn't resolved the issue. I don't think I will be able to revert to 10 as this is a company owned computer and they forced the update to 11 in the first place.
Further, I'm now realizing the issue seems to go away when I'm not in a conference call, so it must be related to that application (Webex), not Windows in general. I'll try Webex support and see what they can do.
Thanks again.

Once I had some unknown devices in Device Manager at my hybrid tablet/laptop Fujitsu Stylistic Q702. I tried to find drivers and install these (they were some Bluetooth protocols). After installing these my Bluetooth speaker with either won't pair or pair but produce no sound! Damn! The fix was to uninstall everything Bluetooth related from Device Manager, restart and let Windows automatically install the appropriate Bluetooth drivers, just as @glasskuter suggested. Ever since if I see any unknown Bluetooth devices in Device Manager (I confirm with Aida64 they are Bluetooth related), I just ignore them.

Not very helpful, but want to drop in a note here...Ever since I installed Windows 11 on any of my devices, I've have had some major and minor issues with BT. Windows 11 does something weird and completely random with these devices, as one minute all is fine, the next nothing works. I suspect drivers aren't quite up to specs and does not conform properly with Windows 11 aggressive power management.

I have not yet found a solution, since everything seems very random and more like untraceable magic that either work or does not work. I've had issue with both Intel and Realtek BT devices of different versions. Realtek is the more troublesome of the two brands. The weirdest part is that WiFi on same cards work fine, while BT works randomly.
