I take it you’ve added Macrium boot options to Windows boot manager? If yes then please follow jphughan’s post on the subject.

I use their USB boot medis which is easier for me.

I am with Bastet, I boot to my Macrium rescue media using the f12 boot menu. It gives me the option to choose my recovery media usb drive to boot from.
This boot menu can be accessed using whichever key your manufacturer has assigned to reach this boot menu. (F key, del, esc)

Agreed. The Boot choices don't usually automatically show, sometimes only when there's issues with the BIOS such as a bad CMOS battery, no drive identified, memory faults, etc. Pressing F12 usually gives the menu of bootable devices but older computers may be different in how to get the display of those choices.

Is there any alternative solution to what jphughan proposed? If not, I'll follow that. It was working fine until 22H2 dropped. Rebuilding RE using RMBuilder doesn't fix it. MSConfig shows both the options there as well.
That's odd. I get both boot options on all my machines after the 22H2 upgrade with bootmenupolicy still set as Standard.
Check that your msconfig General tab is set the same as mine.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

Sometimes you get a graphics driver issue which does not show the graphics boot menu properly. Try changing the boot menu to the older Windows 7 style text menu interface. Run following from admin prompt.

Code:
bcdedit /set "{current}" bootmenupolicy legacy

To revert back to graphics menu

Code:
bcdedit /set "{current}" bootmenupolicy standard

If it works in legacy text mode but not graphics mode, it is probably a graphics driver issue.

not have boot menu option while still having Macrium RE present, can I access it via F12
Only if you have usb enabled as a boot option in bios. All bios are different so I can not give exact directions. You can go to Acer and enter your serial number. User manuals are available for download. They give you step by step instructions for working in the bios for your exact system.

Macrium is not set to appear in my boot menu. If I have my recovery media usb drive plugged in and use my f12 boot menu, the drive will appear as a bootable option. Can't remember exactly what it says but under "UEFI boot" I believe it's something like USB-ESD, but yours may be different. Before you will see the f12 boot menu, it has to be turned on in bios. By default it is turned off. This was on the Acer forum.

To enable the F12 Boot Menu:

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Press the F2 key to enter computer's BIOS Setup during Power-On Self-Test, or POST, process while the Acer logo is being displayed.
  3. Press the Right Arrow key to select Main
  4. Select F12 Boot Menu
  5. Press the Enter key
  6. Select Enabled
  7. Press the Enter key
  8. Press the F10 key and then press the Enter key to save the changes and restart the computer.
Note: Not all Acer notebooks or netbooks have the F12 Boot Menu feature. Computers that do not have the F12 Boot Menu feature will not be able to enable the feature within the BIOS.

Ther are many ways to access a bootable wim .

One way is to rename macrium boot.wim to winre.wim

then use it to replace the original winre.wim in your recovery\winre folder

another way is to add your own bcd entry pointing at the macrium boot.wim and sdi file using a scankey code

The first thing to do is to see if there is an entry for Macrium in the BCD.

In a command prompt with admin privileges run:
bcdedit

Please copy and paste the results here.

The first thing to do is to see if there is an entry for Macrium in the BCD.

In a command prompt with admin privileges run:
bcdedit

Legacy one works fine. I want the modern one to work though.
Then you have a graphics driver issue not a bcd issue.

You may need to inject graphics driver into macrium boot.wim file.
