Solved Booting a mini pc from an internal nvme ssd in an external enclosure

Hi, new here. Hope I can explain my issue clear enough. I have a GMKtec NUCBOX 9 pc. I purchased a ADTLink kit. To run a egpu with my pc. It uses a m.2 nvme pcie 4.0 adapter in the only m.2 nvme slot in my pc. Connects it the a Oculink external pcie x16 port. Uses a ATX power supply to run the gpu. I'm using a MSI Gaming x Geforce GTX 1660 super as my gpu and a Corsair RM550x power supply.
My question is. Can I put the original M.2 NVME Gen3x4 ssd in an external enclosure and boot my mini pc from it? My mini pc has a USB-C port. That I understand is 3.2 Gen 2
If so what settings do I need to change in windows to do this? Hope I came to the right place to ask my question.

i can see no reason why not but that would most likely entail a new fresh install of Windows to that external SSD.
Windows doesn't like its boot loader messed about with to much.

you can test that by connecting the external SSD and then booting to the BIOS and enable USB boot.
then boot to Windows from the external USB drive to see if Windows can pick up the external SSD.

if it does not boot then its a clean install of the operating system to that external SSD.
the only way you are really going to find out is try it.

Thanks for info. Should I change the boot-to before or after I put the ssd in the enclosure and plug it into the usb-c port? I would think before so windows recognizes the drive. So to be clear, I'm using the drive that was originally in the pc. With all the drivers and other files that were preinstalled.
