Word in Office 2021 has started showing a wide white page and border surrounding text which doesn't print as shown in the screenshot. Until a few days ago I just used to see the page contemt against the A4 white page. Has something changed in a recent update?

I experienced the same thing using Word as part of MS 365. I use a dark gray theme and previously the document background in preview mode was a dark gray. I went back to a earlier version of MS 365 and the problem went away so I suspect the issue is part of an update, not sure which one.

This seems to be bug in the last update thanks to Microsoft's usual sloppy software engineering. I've submited a feedback report in the vain hope they read it and fix the bug.

I use the Dark Grey Office Theme and have been facing this issue for quite some time. Recently, however, I stumbled upon an accidental workaround.

While viewing a document in Print Preview (for example, Document 1) -where the background/canvas appears white- if I open a second Word instance or (Document 1) and switch its Office Theme to any other then back to Dark Grey (confirming with OK each time), the Print Preview in Document 1 immediately adopts the correct Dark Grey Office Theme.

Interestingly, if multiple documents are open in Print Preview, performing this theme‑switching process in just one of them updates the Print Preview theme for all the others, except for the document in which the theme change was actually performed.

Unfortunately, the effect isn’t permanent. Switching from Print Preview back to the Home tab and then returning to Print Preview causes the background/canvas to revert to white again.
