Windows 11 Pro
I have a couple of older Intel Nuc's (5th generation, i5's). They worked great, but technically Windows 11 won't be supported on that processor.

So, I found a BeeLink mini PC, it's the SEI8 with the 8th generation (coffee lake) i5-8279u which is on the supported processor list. Been playing with the hardware today and it seems pretty good for the price. ($475 USD)
  1. Core i5-8279u (4c/8t at 2.4Ghz base and 4.1Ghz Boost
  2. 16GB of RAM
  3. 512GB NVme
  4. 4 x USB 3.x ports
  5. 1 x USB 3 Type-C port
  6. dual HMDI out allowing 2 monitors
  7. Gigabit LAN
  8. Intel Wireless WiFi 6 AX200
  9. Intel IRIS Plus Graphics 655
  10. Windows 10 Professional.
The case has enough room to add a 2.5" SATA SSD and it has a ribbon cable to attach it to the motherboard for power and data.

So far it's working solid for Windows 11. Figured this gave me a really solid way to play with 11 and some of the software that I use without having to take any chances of problems on my Win10 box that I rely on for gaming and everything else at the moment.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking at a BeeLink as well, so I found this very helpful.

Cool. Their documentation and website is pretty horrible, but if you are self sufficient with computers you can get it figured out. I booted up, made sure all of the hardware was working. Then imaged the Windows 10 Pro with Macrium, and formatted it and installed Windows 11 Dev channel on it. Took a bit of time to figure out the right audio drivers. The beelink bundle included drives for a Realtek setup, but turns out it's actually using an Intel STT setup instead and needed different drivers.

It's very quiet, it does have a fan that spins on, but only rarely, and it's about the same loudness as a laptop fan. And the OS install was clean, no other crap or applications loaded on the device. I really did appreciate that.

Let me know if you have any specific questions and I will help you out any way I can.

Yep, it's just nice sometimes to test on physical hardware and at least with the Intel NUC's and the Beelink mini PC's, it doesn't take a ton of desk space. They run Windows and Linux great. And it's super easy to take off the back plate to change the hard drive to experiment with something else if you want.

I know. I'm just kidding.
By now though, you probably have enough NUCs/Mini-PCs to make a desktop, size wise. :D

Yeah, not quite. All 3 sit comfortably under my monitor. I think theNUC's are about the size of a 120mm case fan.

Are they upgradable?
Somewhat. The only intended components to upgrade are the RAM modules and the NVMe drive that comes inside of it. But as stated in my other post, this particular mini-pc has room in the lid to add a 2.5" SSD as well to the NVMe so you can run 2 hard drives. It has an adapter that plugs into a ribbon cable that goes into the motherboard. I'll get a few more pictures.

Here are a few pictures. For reference, the fan it's sitting next to is a 120mm case fan.

There are 4 Phillips screws to remove to open the case. The NVMe has a heatsink on it already. You can see the adapter with the ribbon cable to plug in an additional 2.5" ssd. And the tiny little hole on the front, opposite the red power button is a clear CMOS button in case you fubar something in the BIOS and cannot boot.

I've got an older model Beelink mini PC, a BT3 Pro II. It's got an Atom processor in it, along with 4G of RAM and 64G of storage. I use it as a garage PC Paid $120 for it about 3 years ago. It's not the fastest computer around but it does what I need it to do out in the garage.

I don't see any reason to even attempt to run Win 11 on it.

Good thing with these is the VESA mount where you can place the whole PC in the back of a monitor/arm or on a wall.
