Solved BSOD ntoskrnl.exe 0xe6 0..0026

Hi,

I'm having frequent BSOD on a Dell Precision 7730 with Windows 11 Professional and latest updates.
Happening mostly when user is away.
Had one BSOD for asmtxhci.sys which seems to be related to ASMedia USB3.0 eXtensible Host Controller. There is no newer driver.

V2 log collector failed so I had to use

Those Stop 0xE6 bugchecks are usually caused for two reasons:
  1. UEFI firmware; please check for the latest firmware updates from Dell
  2. Drivers which use DMA like USB
Where did you check for the driver updates? The Dell support page? If so, Windows Update may offer an updated driver version.

Note: Stop 0xE6 bugchecks can be thrown without the use of Driver Verifier.

Just a quick comment re the above post. Laptop drivers should ALWAYS - and ONLY - be obtained from the website of the laptop manufacturer (Dell in your case).

In most circumstances that is very true, however, if Dell haven't released a new driver update in 4 years and there is a bug, then it is permissible to use version offered via Windows Update.

3) Run the V2 log collector (make sure that extract all is clicked) > post a V2 share link into the newest post

The Bitdefender drivers were left over from a prior installation.

The drivers were involved in two of the crashes.

Please run the uninstall tool then post a new V2 share link.

1) Uninstall any of these non-Microsoft software:

a) antivirus
b) firewall
c) drive encryption

2) Make sure that Microsoft defender is on.

3) Modify the default language to English so that the log files can be scanned

4) Run the V2 log collector > post any new error messages or post a V2 share link

Unfortunately, the only other option is to either uninstall that problematic driver - may cause other issues - or roll back to Windows 10 which is the only Windows operating system which Dell officially has provided support for.

Is there any evidence for that other than running !thread + dps and then arbitrarily picking any third-party driver which comes up?

I followed your guide and added a new folder to my share
It also contains a screenshot of an error during execution of V2 log collector

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean.
I did the following:
  1. Uninstalled Bitdefender
  2. Changed default language to english
  3. Checked Microsoft Defender is enabled
  4. Run the V2 log collector
Is the log incomplete because of the error?

There were multiple drivers in the crashes.


The asmedia and bitdefender drivers were in multiple crashes.

You can monitor for new BSOD or reinstall some of these drivers:

Reinstalled and now it is working.
