OK, feels like progress. I ran the chkdsk c: /b /v from an Administrator level Command Prompt....since the drive/volume was in use, it offered to check it on next restart, so I restarted and it ran on startup then took me to Windows.
Next i ran chkdsk d: /b /v and it finished with no problem found, next I ran chkdsk e: /b /v and that also no problems.
