It does actually assign a temporary drive letter, but the function I used to get free drive letters didn't consider mapped network drives, so I am fixing this as we speak! Besides, you've already seen my script in action and that it does work!

I don't have any mapped drives. Your script could assign almost any drive letter, I only use A to G.

Yes, it should and it does! It assigns a temporary free drive letter to the recovery partition to do work, then removes the assigned drive letter afterwards! Check the logs!

I can test your scripts but I'm not going to debug them, as I know nothing about coding. I ran the latest .PS1, but it quits on completion, so I can't post the output. You asked me to read the logs, but that's your job! :-)

The script is state aware and won't do work unless it has to do work, so running the script on a system that checks out will take the fast path and exit without doing anything! You can find the log at "C:\ProgramData\OEM\Logs\WinRE-Manager.log" to check for yourself why it exited!?

Idea is that the script is non-interactive so you can run it as a scheduled task also to automatically heal Windows RE every once a blue moon if you so wish! It doesn't take a coder to find the log file that the script leaves behind! The script logs to "C:\ProgramData\OEM\Logs\WinRE-Manager.log". I do want to thank you for taking time out of your day to try this!

I'm not sure why you're experiencing those issues! I'm not having any problems in the drive letter assignments on the tests I've performed! Perhaps restart and try again? I'm still busy fixing a few extremely minor issues and race conditions, will let you know when latest script is live, meanwhile, you really shouldn't experience those issues with the current live version!

There's a reason for the script not elevating itself! If run without elevation it does a dry run! It's part of the design philosophy with safety and security in mind!

On my Dev box, I had a network drive share pathed to Z$. It seems the script attempts to use that drive letter.
There was an entry displayed about the Z: drive but no errors were reported per se and no changes were made to the RE partition.

The second run was under different conditions; the network drive was disconnected, freeing the Z: drive,
I also deleted the current RE partition which was a porky 1022 MB.
The script created a new recovery partition of 1000 MB (used space of just below 70%).

Would you mind testing again with network drive mapped? My latest version v47 patch 3 is live!
