I just added a an Anker C200 Pro camera to replace the Microsoft HL-3000 that bit the dust. The camera works fine for normal stuff, but I decided to try a QR-Code scan, and it pops up this error. I get the error whether I have a bar code or QR-Code in front of the camera or not.

When I close that, I get this.

I don't see anything that gives me a clue in the Event Viewer. No errors pop up for either Windows or Application when this happens. Of course Google Search is useless, it's telling me something's wrong with the camera. The camera has no issues that I can see, image looks great, microphones work, etc.

Edit: I tried a Microsoft HD-6000 laptop camera and that worked fine doing the same task. So, it's apparently something about this particular camera.

Yep, firmware is up to date, and Anker has nothing to say about the error. I'm going to send all the data back to them and see what they say, but their initial response was "we don't know anything". :unsure:

  • Windows native Camera App
    • All other modes work fine (Video, Photo, Document, Whiteboard)
    • Barcode Mode crashes with the error code:0xA00F42A0 <SceneSwitchFailed> (0x80070020)

And…

The Anker PowerConf C200 webcam, while capable of capturing video and supporting various applications, does not have built-in QR code scanning capabilities. You'll need to use a separate application or your computer.
In short, the Anker PowerConf C200 webcam itself cannot scan QR codes.You'll need to rely on a separate application or your computer's built-in camera functions to scan QR codes

Yep, I found that, I did post to the thread. I actually saw two different people with the same error code, so maybe I'll be sending this back to Amazon.

I’ve never heard good things or read people raving about Anker products, John. Maybe some of their power banks. Not sure, can’t remember, I was dropped on my head as an adult, so memory is fuzzy.

I use their mice, but their camera are so clunky that I didn't like them. I like a smaller camera, not the big thing with wings that Logitech makes.

I like a cam that is big enough to sleep on if my wife kicks me out of bed.
The truth is, I don’t have a cam. Never had one (outside of a laptop which I always keep closed) I don’t want people to see my ugly and generally think that the illuminati is always watching.

Well, I do Zoom meetings, so I need one. The Anker C200 I bought has a feature I like, a manual shutter that kills the camera and also covers the lens to make sure it doesn't wake up! :LOL:

That's the same camera that I use on my desktop computer. I never tried it so I didn't know that it doesn't work with Windows Hello. I will say that it worked great when my wife and I use to do video calls with her sister. I bought my camera from Amazon back in February of 2023.

It works fine for normal camera functions, and Windows Hello facial recognition didn't work worth a crap with the Microsoft camera. so I have no real burning interest in using it. I do like the Anker lens shutter to disable the camera physically, a nice touch.

I just wanted to be able to scan the barcodes and QR-Codes on products and extract the link. I can do it on the phone, but that means using a 6" screen and lame keypad as opposed to a 45" screen and a real keyboard. No contest for me, I'll take the latter!

With my old eyes it's hard for me see things on a small screen. What I like about my Anker camera is that it works great even under low light conditions.

I may just ignore this feature if Anker can't fix it, I like the size of the camera and the nice shutter feature.

It is a great little camera. I just realized tonight that I forgot to setup the camera to work in Win 11 24h2. I recently switched from using the Insider Canary builds as my daily OS to using the Win 11 24h2 builds and I'm slowly moving my programs over.

I installed the software then turned it on to set it up. I kept getting a plug in camera error. My first thought was that the camera stopped working. Turns out the camera was turned off in Settings. I tried it in the MS camera app and it still works great.

Well, I didn't have another camera as my MS camera croaked. :LOL: I did finally dig out an old MS laptop camera for testing, but it doesn't clip properly to my new monitor.
