For a few minutes, round corners looked cool.
But now I am starting to think that I prefer square corners.

What do you all think? Round or square corners?
I like square corners.

Can I get square corners back?
And if so, HOW? :look:

Square - rounded corners are just for the 'ooh ahh' users who think they are cool. They provide no functionality. Windows 11 is being designed by 'ooh ahh' developers and is just cosmetic claptrap mostly. These guys do not give a damn about functionality as is seen by removal of many options but hey it is prettier (allegedly).

My point is curved corners are symptomatic of the sad direction the developers of Windows have taken - froth over substance.

I didn't notice about round corners untill you mentioned it. Wondering they still have time for cosmetic touch.

I think the round look better in some apps / programs, but not at all bothered because it's what is inside them that matters.

I actually like the round corners. We've had the squares so long, it was about time Microsoft changed things up. But that's me.

That would require some heavy modification to the OS/Settings to get that done. You could check out the XML etc and see what you can do or someone might come up with something to accomplish that in time.

I'm sure there are appearance packs out now or to come later that can take care of the round corners for those who don't like them.

Not really being serious but if you want square corners, use Win 10... as really, there isn't much else different between the 2 apart from appearance. Note: I am not really suggesting you swap back but its the obvious answer :)

Maybe not too heavy, but would definitely require. The main problem is, MS developers are very reluctant to allow end users modify the most of theme features, you can only select the palette (mostly), background picture, font size and desktop icons, that's all.

However, the round corners aren't carved in stone. While I cannot help how to change them right now, you can notice how the UI elements depend on selected theme. In the standard Windows 11 theme all Win32 menus and buttons are rounded, unlike it was in Windows 10 and all versions before; simply open the Notepad and browse its menu. However, try to switch to one of high contrast themes in Settings: Themes, Contrast themes (scroll down to see this), then choose a theme, say, Desert, then Apply. You can see that menu in Notepad is now strictly rectangle, as well as the buttons in dialog windows like File, Print. (Don't forget to return back applying "None".)

My point is, replacing the round elements with rectangles which already exist in other themes, is a matter of time and efforts. Sure, creating a custom theme requires some knowledge and professional abilities... Maybe need to visit DeviantArt more often?

Round or square corners - I don't give a hoot. As a previous poster mentioned it's what's under the hood that counts and currently, running 11 on an i7 non-compliant CPU laptop under 3 years old and 10 on a compliant CPU I'm becoming more inclined by the day to stick with 10.

Obviously there will be stuff inside 11 which will make it a must have for many users but for me, it's simply cosmetic changes with the rest devoted to muscling us into passing over some serious cash to hardware manufacturers. We will see - interesting times.

Unless we get round monitors, round corners do not make sense. :zany:
Note that when you snap windows, they are not round, that would be silly.

You'll need rounded corners on your doors to match.

Unless we get round monitors, round corners do not make sense. :zany:
Note that when you snap windows, they are not round, that would be silly.
I wonder if I can find the round TV that use to be stored in my grandparent's attic?

That reminds me, Windows 11 would fit perfectly with Fallout theme.

Deviantart? Na,, no thanks. I leave my setting as is because I just use Windows to be productive and the look is rather meaningless to me.

I personally would love to see the code and how the edges of things like the start menu are set up and I do think that their parameters are kind of set in 'stone'. Changing them would require some code changes and I don't know if we have access to it or could change it if we located the code. A search via Google might prove that one way or the other. But I don't have the time to do that now.

IMO.. if someone wants square corners they can use 10.. it's still a great OS,
