can i install beta insider build 22635.2552 to my unsupported pc, then upgrade it to 22635.2700?

is it possible for me to install beta insider build 22635.2552 to my unsupported pc, then upgrade it to 22635.2700, and if so do we have instructions for how to do it? thanks in advance.

Don't know what PC you have and what you call "unsupported" but I sure did and it runs great. My PC missed the support by 3 months. I have iCore 5 with a 7th Gen CPU, but I have everything else supportrd. Sure runs fine. A little slow on startup due to HDD but once it strats, runs like a champ. Updates everything just fine. Try it!

Yes, it is. I run the Beta build on an unsupported device.

Do you want to do a clean install? Or do you want to do an in-place upgrade of your existing Windows to the Insider Beta build?

The following methods work for bypassing the install checks for all versions of the General Release and Insider builds of Windows 11, with the exception of the Canary build. In the Canary build Microsoft have disabled all known workarounds for installing it on unsupported devices.

For a clean install on an unsupported device I boot to a command prompt from an unmodified install usb, apply the known registry changes (originally published by Microsoft) then start Setup.exe from the command prompt.

For an in-place upgrade, disconnect from the internet before starting. Mount the ISO and run the Setup.exe you'll find there. On the first screen click 'Change how Setup downloads updates' and select 'Not right now'. Next replace C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\appraiserres.dll with an empty dummy file, make one by making a new text document on your desktop and renaming it as appraiserres.dll. You can now continue the install and it will skip the compatibility checks.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

I have an old HP laptop which is unsupported, but it does run the Beta just fine. However it will not automatically update to the latest Beta version, because Windows Insiders setting in Windows Update cannot be changed from Release Preview. If I want the latest version I have to download and create an new ISO via UUP download and install that. I am currently running 22635.2700 on the old HP. So from what I have seen the answer to question is no.

On Canary build you can still install it still on an unsupported device -- use dism.exe /App;ly-Image - then install the bootloader.

The other (longer way) is to install into a VM, clone the VM to a physical device and update the physical drivers.

I have a Canary build that I run on an unsupported device. It's a native boot .vhdx, so to update it I can copy the vhdx to a usb SSD, then native boot that on a supported device. When the feature update has installed I copy it back to the unsupported device.
