Windows 11
I have WIN 11 /LM dual boot machine with the OSs on separate drives. Each drives is divided in two, OS and Data. Only the Liinux Mint OS partition is ex4. All others are NTFS. Some time ago I got help on making shortcuts to give me access between the Linux drive Data partition and my Windows laptop through my home wireless network. However, now I want to make a shortcut on the windows drive of the dual-boot machine to that folder the Linux drive. It is within the same machine so no wireless needed.

For example, the location of the folder in Linux Mint would be, "/home/username/Desktop/topfolder/targetfolder."

How would I access this from Windows on this machine?

I'm posting this on the Linux forums also.

I'm not totally clear on what you're looking to do, but the easiest way to create a shortcut of a folder in Windows is right-click on the folder, select Send to, and then select Desktop (create shortcut)

You can then place the shortcut in another location other than the Desktop.

Share folder under the Mint and map it as network drive under Windows. Guide from Linux Mint forum.

Both disks should be visible to which ever OS you boot into, so yes and there's nothing special to the normal, create shortcut process

Myself, I don't advise it. I used to play around with Windows/Linux like that (accessing data from one OS to the other) and eventually there would always be an issue often resulting in the loss of one or both of the OS. My advice is to keep your boot straps separate and don't let the right hand know what the left hand is doing. I've been running Linux on a multi-boot system for years and years without issue this way. Rebooting from one OS to the other and copying the data onto a USB drive first to be moved to a separate OS may be a bit of an inconvenience but it's a whole lot safer IMO.

Gave Dell touch screen with Windows 11 to daughter and got me an OTVOC. Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.
if you try and create a short cut from your Linux drive on to your Windows system
Windows wont be able to read it as the short cut is directed to an ext4 drive and Windows cant read/write or see the ext4 format
i beleive that there is software that can be installed on Windows to read the ext4 format but i have never used it.

on the other hand a short cut from your Windows drive on to your Linux drive
Linux can read as Linux can read and write to/from an NTFS format.
best of luck Steve ..
