Solved Can I sync between different email clients.

I have been using em client for a while on my PC but I still use Gmail on my Android mobile. I am finding problems with running 2 different email clients so I looked to see if it was possible for all my Gmail emails to appear in em client on my PC and vice versa. It appears syncing is the answer but could someone point me in the right direction of how to do this please? I assume I have to setup something on both clients.
My current em client account receives email from my Ionos domain. Will adding Gmail syncing affect this in any way?

If you're only talking about e-mails being sync'd, simply setup your accounts using IMAP.

I'm sure I'm missing something here cause IMAP should solve that rather easy.

My setup I use both the Outlook app for my desktop and android phone. I have 3 accounts attached to Outlook to include Gmail, my ISP email account, and my school account. In all three of those instances, they are setup using IMAP. In all three of those instances, my mail show on both phone and desktop. If I delete an email off the desktop, that email on the phone will also end up being deleted, and vice versa.

Indeed, as above, with each Email client application and/or device just use IMAP.

I have used up to 4 different Email client apps at the same time on the same PC in testing. Currently 1 Email App on two Laptops.

They all show same Emails, all synced.

using eMclient and the ISP's web based mail app to access the ISP's third party email server and the two sync activities. Yes, IMAP is involved.

Thanks everyone for your responses. However both emclient and Gmail are already on IMAP so there must be something basic that I am missing.
All emails I receive are visible in both clients but if I delete emails in Gmail, they are still visible in emclient and vice versa. The worst problem I have is if I answer an email in one client, that sent email does not show in the other client.
Looking at this logically, how does emclient on my PC know I have sent an email via Gmail on my phone? That is probably a silly question. I'm sure I am missing something very simple.

Hi

I have exactly the same set up as you, and I don't see the issues that you raise - I have 2 gmail accounts and 2 private imap accounts (on a UK ISP), and all 4 appear on both clients, and (with slight delays on the gmail side) they all appear to sync perfectly with both clients. The only issue that I have is that I can't get the gmail client to open to the 'all inboxes' view by default, so I have to do that manually each time I start the gmail app - if I forget, than I don't see the other account's emails!

If you can't sort it out, and want to dig deeper with me, I'm happy to have a private conversation comparing set-ups and settings.

Also, I'm currently also running the eM Client beta app for Android, which gives you the same experience on Android as you get on Windows - if they can sort out the current performance issues (its very slow on my tablet), that will enable me to abandon the gmail client completely.

Synchronise items at startup and synchronise items every 10 minutes are both ticked.

Hi Richard, eM client on my phone would certainly remove Gmail from the equation but I see in the emclient forum, people are having serious issues with the beta version.
Comparing settings would be good if you can spare the time.

I was checking settings in Gmail and under Accounts and Import, Check email from other accounts, this only refers to POP3. If I open Edit, it forces me to enter my Ionos POP server. Could this be anything to do with the problem? Everyone seems to state that IMAP is required for syncing, but both Gmail and emclient accounts are already IMAP.

Perhaps you need to look to your "lonos" server and check it supports IMAP.

Yes it does. I have used all the Ionos IMAP details in the clients.

But before we do that, can we clear up a couple of things - the Settings that you refer to - "Accounts and Import" only appear in the web interface to Gmail, not the Android Gmail app - you are talking about syncing to the app on Android, aren't you?

I thought Gmail settings applied to PC and Android. I was using the PC settings for ease but the Android Gmail is what I use on the mobile. If I'm on the PC, then I use emclient.

So now I'm confused on what you mean.

That said, I know nothing about eM Client, so have no further suggestions other than in syncing your mail, you should be using IMAP.

Because if I am going to share the setup f my email accounts, I don't want them generally available!

Thats because I thought Gmail on web and Android were the same.
To confirm - I use Gmail on Android and emclient on PC.
I receive emails on both platforms.
I send an email on say Android but it does not appear in the sent folder of emclient (and vice versa).
I delete emails from say Android but they remain in emclient (and vice versa).
Sorry for confusion.
