It’s a tricky thing importing a complete registry and if imported from another setup it can be detrimental.
It’s better and easier to export individual entries and importing those specific entries.

I’d guess if you listed what it is you wanted changed, there would be a registry file in the tutorials that would meet your needs.

If you are the only one using your computer or if you completely trust any other using it, then you may remove your password entirely. This will make Windows login automatically without setting the key as in the Tutorial above. For a Microsoft account this is not possible, but you can convert it to local account and then remove your password.

I use this utility from Windows Sysinternals and it works fine for me. No need to change registry etc.

Thanks for the responses. Decided to use Sysinternals, worked like a champ.

As to the registry, I feel relatively comfortable working in there but as this was a new computer, the suggestion was to back up the registry and no mention just a specific key or entry so thats what I did. Ended up doing a system restore to be on the safe side but lost quite a few programs already installed. All is well, lesson learned.

Generally, when we are talking about backup the Registry we mean the keys you are going to modify so you can restore the original values. Not the whole Registry. Bad choice of words, I know, we should be more specific.
