Can't connect to wireless network using USB Wi-Fi adapter

I installed a USB Wi-Fi adapter on my Windows 11 PC. The device was detected and is visible in the network adapters window.
I am trying to connect to a wireless network using the USB adapter because it has longer range than the inbuilt adapter.
The problem is that I can't connect using the USB adapter.
Unlike previous Windows OS where you can see all your Wi-Fi adapters and decide which one to use when connecting to wireless network, I can't seem to find that option in Windows 11.

Kindly assist.

From what location are you trying to connect? Second image might suggest public access device that requires web page sign up/log in?

No errors in device manager.

I am trying to connect from Windows Wi-Fi connecting area at the bottom of the screen near the clock. Yes the inbuilt adapter is connected to a network that requires login.

Windows can only connect to a single network at a time no matter how many adapters you have.
You'll have to disconnect from that network before trying the new adapter.

🙄 I’m as dumb as a brick but it still seemed pretty obvious to me. There’s a message in that.
