Well, after everything was sorted from my first pin problem I was suddenly unable to enter my PIN on the login screen both at boot and restart. Nothing from the keyboard at all. I swapped keyboards - nothing. I followed my newly gained knowledge to delete my PIN and after logging in with my password I reset my PIN - nothing. I tried quite a few other things then finally reimaged with my image from just the problem started - nothing. In the end it was solved by adding another, this time local, user account. That's all. Suddenly my usual account was accessible as usual.
Just in case anybody else has this problem it might save them some time.
